Great for use on a Tavor X95
Written on Mar 26, 2024
This is my second Meprolight RDS Pro V2 (both with green reticles). The first one is mounted on a Tavor X95 chambered for 5.56. This second unit is mounted on a Tavor X95 chambered for .300 BLK. On the 5.56 X95, I mounted the Pro V2 along with a Meprolight 3X magnifier. Since my intended use of the .300 BLK rifle is shorter distance, with a suppressor and subsonic ammo, I opted to forgo the magnifier. I mounted this second Pro V2 at the rearmost position on the X95's top rail, even though doing so blocks access to the X95's built-in iron sights. Mounting the Pro V2 at the rearmost position works well for my aging eyes. I was able to see the reticle clearly, and to acquire the target easily. I noted that forgoing magnification puts a premium on lighting. The indoor range where I was zeroing the rifle has some poorly illuminated locations, depending on the placement of the target. I used a Surefire Scoutlight Pro, which casts enough additional light at 50 yards to make a difference (I could see the target at 50 yards without squinting). As to zeroing in the Pro V2, windage was a snap. Zeroing the elevation took a bit more work, perhaps because of the rearward location of the unit on the rail, perhaps because the subsonic .300 BLK ammo has a pretty steep trajectory. I was close to running out of room to adjust elevation. But in any event, after some tweaking, the Pro V2 zeroed successfully. I'm a fan of the Meprolight products. If I'm so lucky to have a reason to

Great upgrade for a Surefire Scout Light

Unity Tactical Rail Mount Hot Button
I'm using the Unity hot button switch with a Surefire M640DFT Scout Light mounted on a Tavor X95. The Unity switch operates perfectly. It connects firmly to the rifle, and the plug snaps cleanly into the replacement Surefire end cap. The touch of the Unity is very similar to the end cap switch that came with the Surefire (which is a great switch if you don't have a need to access it from either side of the rifle). The Unity switch shows no evident loss of power (some reviews of other tape switches say that there is a noticeable reduction in illumination caused by those switches). In my opinion, the feel of the Unity switch is miles ahead of the Surefire tape switch. I mounted the Unity on the top rail of the X95 so that I could access it from either either side of the weapon. The only issue is the sufficiency of the real estate on the top rail; it's a bit compressed on the X95 due to the placement of the red dot sight and the location of the flip up front iron sight (if you're willing to obstruct use of the flip up sight, there's plenty of room). The space limitation by-and-large is not a problem caused by the Unity switch; it's a result of the compact bull pup design of the X95. My only observation about the Unity switch that impacts the "real estate" is that the lead wire comes out of the front of the switch. In a perfect world, there would be an option to have it emerge on the left or the right rather than the front. But despite this observation, the switch is w
