Bought a pair of Pentax DCF 10x43 SP binos back in 2007. They came with a "Worry Free" 25 year warranty that supposedly covered manufacturer's defects without a proof of purchase. I loved them! This year, the diopter adjustment ring failed so I sent them to the authorized repair company (Precision Camera) who proceeded to inform me that warranty repair would not be done without a receipt for the purchase or the original warranty card. After 16 years and two divorces, these documents have been misplaced. I had registered these with Pentax using the proper form when they were purchased. That doesn't seem to matter. They are presumed to be out of warranty. I asked what it would cost to have them repaired anyway and was informed that Pentax would not authorize the repair because they are out of warranty! Even at my cost! Buyer beware!
