TAC Slide Holster
Written on Apr 09, 2021
I purchased for use with my SA mil-spec 1911. I found that it is a little tight for a full size 1911. However my surplus Star BM was a perfect fit. If I had a "beat-up" 1911, I wouldn't hesitate to force it in the holster but I just didn't want to take a chance of scuffing the finish of my new .45. Overall though, I'm satisfied with my purchase.

TAC Slide Holster

I purchased the Galco TAC Slide holster for range use with my 1911. It is a little snug, but fills the bill just fine. Because of the "generic" nature of the 1911 style, I've found that it will accommodate other pistols as well, such as my Star BM.

TAC slide holster

I purchased this for a full size mil-spec 1911. The holster is very tight, to the point that I feel it may mar the finish of the firearm. however, when I used it for a smaller "micro" size 1911, it fit just fine. The holster is just for range use, so I'll use it for ATI or RIA branded 1911s. That way if the finish is effected it's no big deal. Overall, good quality, just that, this one, is a little on the tight side.

DeSantis LCRx Speed scabbard
Written on Nov 17, 2018
Many years ago, I used to spend days if not weeks agonizing over which brand of holster to buy for a new handgun. Over the past 3 years, or so, I realized that DeSantis holsters ( OWB ) always had the best form fitting holsters available. They may not have always been the least expensive, nor were they the most expensive, but they always fit snug and offered a high ride on my hip. The DeSantis LCRx Speed Scabbard is no exception. Quality leather, coupled with a great fit and solid retention make the DeSantis line of leather holsters my "go to" choice for any new handgun that finds it's way into my collection.

Bianchi speed strips

Bianchi 580 Speed Strips Pair, Black
I like the Bianchi Speed Strips because they ride flat in my front pocket. They are very handy for the quick trip to the store. With my S&W 642 IWB, and a speed strip in my pocket, I'm set. As far as durability is concerned, I have loaded and unloaded these many times, and the rubber shows no sign of fatigue. Given the price, why not have a couple on hand.

Bianchi 100 Professional for S&W 642

Bianchi 100 Professional Holster
This holster is a good economical way to carry the S&W 642 IWB. The leather conforms to the gun very well, providing enough retention to secure the weapon. You do have to "twist" the gun a little to re-holster, but realistically, how many times do you draw your weapon while actively carrying? Good leather, comfortable, and good retention. Good price too.

Bianchi 100 Professional Holster
Bianchi leather is very good quality. The stitching is impressive, and the steel clip is quite stout. My 642 has made itself at home by having the leather form around the weapon to provide a natural retention. Very comfortable to wear. I would recommend this product.

E-Gat holster for S&W j-frame

DeSantis E-Gat Slide Belt Leather Holster
I originally purchased this holster as a concealable OWB option. The holster has a tendency to want to angle outward if worn at the 3,4, or 5 o'clock positions. However, it tucks in just fine when worn appendix style. My body shape does not allow for appendix carry for anything larger than a LCP. It will serve a purpose around the house or possibly when target shooting. The holster is well constructed and forms to the J-Frame nicely.

Tipton Silicone Cloth
Written on Jun 04, 2017
Great for replacing fingerprints with a very light coating of silicone. A must for every gun owner. Works well, and does not leave a lot of "fuzz" on the firearm after a good wipe down. I will often add one of these cloths to "build" my order up to $50.00 in order to get free shipping. You can't have too many, as they do get dirty over time.

DeSantis Speed Scabbard

Review for
DeSantis Speed Scabbard OWB Belt Holster
Every owb holster I have is a Desantis. They just have a way of providing a quality holster at a reasonable cost. My iwb holsters are crossbreed. Most of my DeSantis holsters are "Thumb Break", but the Speed Scabbard also fills the bill for a high ride and secure fit to the weapon. You can spend a lot of time researching holsters, or you can find a brand you like and stick with them. I'm sticking with DeSantis to provide the best holster options for me. Try one!
