Good Rail at Good Price

Written on Dec 20, 2023

This was the best rated, best priced rail available for both my Browning A-Bolt 3 rifles, 1 short action and 1 long action. I had no problem mounting it on the rifles. The extra screw in the package is appreciated in case one goes missing. I used my Vortex torque driver to tighten the screws to the recommended torque. The Vortex rings I got fit the rail nicely and I assume the rails and rings were within good tolerance since my laser bore sighting had the 1st one within about 3 minutes of angle from dead-on. I believe this rail will perform well for many years for me. This rail adds a little bit of height so with the mid height Vortex rings and a 50 mm objective scope, there was plenty of clearance over the barrel. Could possibly go to a low mount ring but definitely for a 44mm scope it would be possible. Measure and calculate it.

Good Solid Mounts and Repeatable Good Fit

Written on Dec 18, 2023

Good solid rings. They fit the 30 mm scope very well and I used my Vortex torque driver to tighten the screws on both the rail clamps and the scope to the recommended torque. I was pleased with the fit but still have to tighten and look at the gaps on each side to ensure they are the same. My experience was very good on a Browning A-Bolt with a rail attached. When I got the Trybe scope mounted with these rings, I was only about 8 clicks off from a perfectly aligned bore sight. Between rail, rifle, rings, and scope I consider that pretty darn good. Additionally, these rings are pretty good on price and look and feel very strong. I bought 2 sets, this one is going on a Browning with a Vortex scope and I expect good things. My only disappointment was that OP had one pair in stock and by the time my order shipped, the other pair wasn't available and I had to wait about a week for the backorder. It wasn't bad, but when that happens you feel like there is zero information for a few days and then it usually all gets better when the new tracking info comes out and things arrive ahead of your revised expectations.

Great Strong Mount for AR Rail and Great Price

Written on Dec 15, 2023

Got this for a friend and mounted a Vortex 1-10x24 LPVO on a new AR. Made a really pretty job in the end. The FDE version blends with the AR Cerakote color. I was impressed that we could find an offset Picatinny mount this good for this price. The mount fits the 30mm tube but is sleek and not overpowering. I like it!

Sightmark Gets it Done

Written on Dec 13, 2023

Other than being a little tricky getting the button cell batteries installed, these laser bore sights are excellent. If you want to get "on-paper" quickly with something you can trust, these are great to have. The downside is you need a separate one for almost every caliber you shoot but there are exceptions (like .270 Win, 25-06, 30-06). I have 4 different Sightmark units and they are truly helpful and easy to use. Construction is solid machined brass so they have held up very well for me so far. Getting a newly mounted scope sighted in is quick and easy with the laser bore sight. Just put in the batteries and put the device in your chamber and aim at something 40 yards away or so. While looking through the scope, turn the elevation and windage to put the crosshairs on the laser dot and you are going to be better than "on-paper" at 100 or 200 yards easily. Saves ammo and gives me confidence before I start shooting. Also great to check your rifle with before heading to the woods to make sure the scope didn't move.

Very Nice Scope So Far and For the Price

Written on Dec 13, 2023

can't beat this for under $300. FFP is nice and the eyebox is truly forgiving. Optics appear clear and it is easy to see through and get on target. The 3 - 18 magnification range is indeed good for a lot of different situations. I expect we will see more scopes with a 3 - 18 or 4 - 24 (6x) range of magnification. I like the wide 50 mm lens but this is neither a giant beast of a 56mm+ scope nor is it at all small. It is a pretty big scope and it mounted fine using 1.0 inch medium Vortex rings on a Evolution Gun Works Picatinny rail mount on a new Browning A-Bolt 3 in 6.5 Creedmoor. I think I could have lowered the scope a little bit and been fine with the 0.83 inch high "low" rings on this particular rifle, even though the 50 mm objective lens is large. 30 mm mounting rings and/or rail combinations are a little tricky to find for the AB3. I would have tried and preferred one-piece direct mounting but ended up with the rings and rail. My only wish is for a similar scope that doesn't cost $200 more with a lighted reticle. And I really like the attached flip-up lens caps so I don't drop them in the deer stand. The magnification knob is a bit hard to turn and could be improved with a handle. I have another Vortex scope with even harder to turn, so this one isn't that bad. I can't wait to get more time and get used to this new scope from Trybe. I'm deciding if I want to get another one for my .270 Winchester and if I'll be more of a Trybe fan than a Vortex fan. I pro

Very Nice Hat for a Few Bucks

Written on Dec 13, 2023

I got this on a Black Friday sale for less than $4. You can't beat a hat for under $4 can you? I wish it wasn't made in China, but other than that, the quality is pretty good and I expect to get a lot of wear out of it. This is a non-ventilated hat (no mesh) so it would be better for cooler weather.
