MTM ammo box
Written on Apr 28, 2018
Even small things can be well done and this ammo box is a good example. After years (ok, decades) of using the so-called "living hinge" ammo boxes, it was a pleasure to use this box with its real, live hinge. The box has a solid feel to it and the lid actually stays open until you decide to close it. Nicely done!

Vortex 30mm scope rings

Review for
Vortex Hunter Rifle Scope Rings
I used these to mount a 30mm tube on a rimfire rifle. Since the recoil is just about non-existent, there was no need for rings with half a dozen screws on each ring. These are well made, nicely finished, and do the job for a good price.

AR-15 pic rail brass catcher
Written on Apr 28, 2018
Review for
Caldwell AR-15 Picatinny Rail Brass Catcher
I reload and bought this because chasing brass just isn't that much fun. The adjustability is probably its biggest plus and allowed me to place it just behind the delta ring and just ahead of the mount for a red dot sight. The wire frame is well made and I have not experienced any issues with melting of the bag material as other reviewers have mentioned. I use an ejection port magazine loader so the quick disconnect feature is a plus. Downside? The detents that hold the frame on the mount are rather weak and the catcher tries to work its way off after a number of rounds. A tap now and then keeps it in place.
