This is the second one of these that I've purchased. I really like the compactness of this optic. I also like that it comes with two different sized risers to adjust the height. The solar power panel is a handy option, and it greatly extends battery life. I also like the automatic brightness adjustment feature that adjusts the dot brightness in relation to ambient lighting. The only downside (and very minor) is the rubber lens covers; they slipped off very easily. I solved that problem with a set of Monstrum flip-up plastic lens covers.
This is the latest of several identical (except for color) of these gun cases I've ordered from optics Planet. These are great carry cases for my AR pistols. This particular length will accommodate an AR pistol with bbl length up to 10 1/2". These gun cases are tough, sturdy, and very well-made. The zippers are also very sturdy. The center pouch is just right for storing boxes of ammo, and tools. An added feature is the molle straps on both ends of the case. They will accommodate up to a 3-pouch Ar 5.56/300 Blackout sized mag pouch on each side.
I think calling this item a "Paratrooper charging handle" is a bit odd but whatever FM named it....it WORKS!
My EoxtrotMike 45 cal Ar pistol came stock with a plastic charging rod. My first thought was "Who would make something as subject to force as a charging handle, out of plastic. First time I took it to the range, after about 50 rounds fired, the charging rod began jamming, making it impossible to retract the bolt fully. Apparently, the heat of firing caused it to bend in the little channel it rides in.
I found this item in Optics Planet and quickly ordered one. Next time I took my FM to the range it was outfitted with this aluminum charging handle. I fired a total of 150 rounds of various types and weights of 45 cal ammo through it; some rapid fire which caused the weapon to heat up a bit. During the entire range episode, this charging rod worked flawlessly. IF you have one of Foxtrot Mike forward cocking pistol caliber Ar's, I HIGHLY recommend replacing the plastic charging rid with one of these aluminum ones. I was so happy with the way it functioned in my weapon that I bought a second one "just in case."
The charging handle that comes stock with the FM 45 7" Ar pistol is plastic. Apparently, with the heat build-up with somewhat rapid firing, it frequently would bind in the handguard when trying to charge the pistol. This charging rod is made of sturdy aluminum. It totally eliminated any binding while trying to charge the weapon. The folding "paratrooper" know is a nice plus to the package.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AS A REPLACEMENT FOR THE STOCK PLASTIC ITEM.
I bought a couple sets of these. I found them easy to attach and with a very aggressive =grip texture. The fact that these are of a composite material made it easy to trim them as necessary to fit around other accessories om my rail. I like my firearms as clean as possible and the fact these are plastic made it easy to use a Dremel tool to mill a small channel on the underside of the segments to hide my laser sight cable.
