I bought these for suppressed pig hunting in an AK platform rifle. After loading a number of them I have concluded: 1. You better have the pistol-length gas tap if you want them to cycle. I didn't find any powder in my supplies that could do it with a standard length gas tap configuration. The bullet takes up most of the case volume and you can't generate enough gas to reliably cycle; 2. Standard rifling twists are no-where close to stabilizing this bullet. It took quite a few failures before I decided to really look at the numbers and determined that I needed a custom barrel to use these bullets. This bullet will stabilize at an 8-9 inch twist rate. A Standard AK has a 19.5 Twist rate. There are lighter bullets that work fine (Less than 130 grain), but the 255 would have been really nice if it wasn't tumbling at 30 yards.
I think this is a decent stock however one that I bought does not securely lock in place in the fully extended position. It seems secure in the farthest position but suddenly slides up a notch when firing. This is disconcerting and causes the slide not to recoil properly, jamming a round halfway into the chamber. I swapped out to the second stock purchased and everything is fine. I haven't been able to figure out why the first one fails based on simple observation. For the price I can tolerate tossing one but check yours thoroughly on the range before trusting this unit on your go-to gun
I slapped this on an old lower and it works perfect right out of the box. You really can't beat this price for a quality upper. I've only shot it at 100 yards with a red dot, so I don't know how accurate it is, but it will ring the 8" gong all day.
I've been testing this out at night in a nearby lot while I await my upcoming hunting trip. Visibility is at least 200 yards. I am very pleased with the performance and believe this is a great value. I plan to use this to spot for animals and then use my IR scope for better identification once I know which way to look. It too hard to use my scope for scanning.
