I looked at many scopes and red dots in this “mid tier” category between 800-2000$ dollars. I narrowed it down to a vortex razor HD GEN-E 2 for my 300 black out mini fix. This scope is the best scope you can buy before you get into a true “professionals” optic at 2000$+

Pros:
Lightest weight on the market with LEAP mount for 1-8 at less then a pound and half you won’t feel it.
Comparable glass to Vortex Razor and Leupold mark series.
Great illumination tactical horse shoe reticle
First focal plain
Easy zoom adjustment with included lever
Mean looking scope.
Will act as a red dot just fine.

Cons:
Slightly less forgiving eyebox then Vortex but on a bolt action this is a non issue.

Who’s it for: if you’re not using this for PRS then it’s the best of the best under 2000. Suited best for under 700 meters it really shines between 0-500 meters. I’m not a hunter nor do I care or want to ever get into hunting but for plinking or self defense/SHTF this thing slaps. This is not a hunting optic. This is not a “sniper scope”. It belongs best on pushing thee. Accuracy with a mid/close range battle rifle or in my case a 300 black bolt pistol.
