Check compatibility.

These triggers are not dimensionally equivalent to stock 10/22 trigger packs. I bought this for the Spectre Superlite chassis and it won't fit. Also, trigger does have squishy take-up that feels like creep. Better than stock, but not worth the money to me.

Doesn't fit

Won't fit Aero Precision Atlas S-One handguard in the forward position. Forward rail section interferes. You would have to mount it too far reward to be useful.

Stripped screw

Written on Jun 25, 2024

Most mlok screws take a 1/8 hex bit, these take a 3/16 bit (much less surface area) and they're made from inferior steel. Because of that, I've just stripped one out and now I'll have to drill the screw head off to remove the rail.

These screws are exactly the kind you get with generic Chinese airsoft accessories on Amazon. How hard would it have been to use a decent screw? I would actually pass on this rail for this reason.

Absolutely not worth it.

This should be a $50 no-name Chinese knock off. It does not have an auto-off feature. Cover is useless, hard plastic instead of formed rubber (I can literally brush it off with my fingertip). Rail attachment is very fiddly and awkward. Really feels like airsoft quality in all regards. The mount itself is slim and lightweight. If the mount were a common footprint it actually might not be a total loss. But I can't figure out what the footprint is and I'm still waiting to hear back from Desert Tech. If they tell me it's a proprietary footprint, this will have been a complete waste of money. They don't list this product on their site, so that tells you something right there.

Misrepresented weight.

Written on Apr 30, 2023

Weight listed on practically every website, including Optics Planet, doesn't include the hardware. The 10.3 length listed here says 6oz. I just weighed mine with the hardware and it's 8.1 oz. I am extremely annoyed right now. I already had a lightweight handguard in this weight range, and I thought I was upgrading by getting the Aero.

If you go to Aero's site they list the handguard weights in multiple places, then they tuck the hardware weight in separately from the main body of information. I believe that this is purposefully deceptive. Is it possible to mount the handguard without the hardware? No, it isn't. So what benefit is it to the consumer to present the weights separately? There is none.

Optics Planet, shame on you for not listing the hardware weight. That makes you just as bad as Aero.

no sacrifice

Still achieves great friction with the shorter surface area of the latches, just have to practice reaching for it. With the quality and the color options, this offers excellent features for a lightweight part. Well made, no sacrifices for the weight loss.

Bad experience

Written on Apr 24, 2023

Bought this on another site. I picked the Guntec because it's practically impossible to find a lightweight handguard with color selection that fits a billet upper. There are only a couple out there.

I'd give the handguard itself 3 stars. The finish machining isn't very nice, very "crisp" edges to all the cuts. Like they took it right off the CNC machine and painted it. That alone makes it feel cheap compared to other brands I've used. I don't know if it's the quality of the coating or the machining, but you can see some slight marks in the right light. It just looks a lot cheaper than it actually costs.

My bigger complaint is with Guntec. As soon as I picked up the package I could tell the handguard was too heavy. Weighed it, sure enough it's 3 ounces heavier than listed. Called Guntec and the lady said they shipped some with steel nuts because... people didn't know how to treat the aluminum ones (???). She mailed me the correct nut. I took off my old HG, barrel, gas block, then put it all back on with the new nut, only to find out that my 1.25" crowfoot is about a millimeter too wide for the flats. I'm very annoyed at this point. I go to four different stores and none carry a slim crowfoot over 1". I see that Guntec sells one on their site... for $20... PLUS $20 SHIPPING. The issue is that they're too cheap and / or lazy to manufacture appropriate barrel nuts for the two different styles of free float HGs they make. There's literally no reason for the "clamp on" HG to use

Poor quality

Written on Apr 13, 2023

Fisheye at 1x is really bad. Everything stretches and moves. It's very distracting. At 8x the eye box has shrunk so much that I have to break my cheek weld, and any slight movement loses it. Finally, someone else wrote that you can scrape off the Cerakote with your fingernail, and he was right! I loosely mounted the scope then took it off, and this was enough to damage the coating. I was easily able to flake it off with my nails.

I have no idea how this scope is so highly rated. This thing is no-name Amazon airsoft bad. Should be $80.
