Quite a few years ago a Japanese optics maker was closing its Custom Shop in Miami. I was able to buy one of their rifle scopes at a greatly discounted price. I didn't have any use for it until recently when I became interested in NRA Class F, Long Range Target Shooting. I mounted the unused, Custom scope on my 6.5 mm center fire rifle and everything looked good, ...until I pulled the trigger. The recoil pushed the scope's eyepiece and my shooting glasses into the bridge of my nose and drew blood. Backing my head away from the eyepiece to increase eye relief narrowed my field of view and blurred the image, ...and I was now flinching. Our Range Officer suggested I try googles. I shopped and bought, "ESS Land Ops Striker Goggles". The goggles fit great and are very comfortable. But the padding that I need prevents the close approach required for a full field of view to an eyepiece that has offers only minimal eye relief. I had to return the very nice, "ESS Land Ops Striker Goggles" as incompatible with my application.

First, I have other Burris products and I'm very satisfied with those. I bought the RT-5 for my 1891 Mauser rifle that has Weaver bases installed. The Picatinny Rail is a bit larger than the Weaver but the two are often interchangeable, ...not this time. I found the Burris RT-5 will not seat on a Weaver base, nor would my RT-5 seat on the Picatinny Rail of a major U.S. firearms maker. Alas, the mount is an integral part of the Burris RT-5 (and the Burris RT-3). Burris Customer Support said this wasn't a defect and I had to return the product to the Seller. So I returned my RT-5 disappointed. NOTE: the Defect is in the design that makes RT-5 (and RT-3) one piece with it's base.
