Simple, Functional with good features

Written on Jul 25, 2024

I like the HK clips/hooks. Simple and functional. I also like the option of using the plastic connector for a quick disconnect between the loop around me and the short bit of fabric connected to the rifle. My main complaint is the adjustment slide. Loosening the sling is a very easy one-hand operation. Tightening the sling works best with two hands and that may not be a good solution. Overall, this is a good sling with a price that isn't too hard to stomach.

Very good sling

Written on Jul 25, 2024

I would be very happy with this sling if I didn't also buy JE Machine's TS-SL6. There is little wrong with this sling but there is less wrong with the TS-SL6. My main complaint is that the adjustment loop doesn't tighten the sling as easily as it should. Loosening is great but it's not as willing to tighten up. The pincers are both locking but are different types (take a close look at the pictures). Locking is good but I'm not sure the added complication is necessary. Is that a deal killer? Probably not, but do take it into consideration as you decide what sling to buy. The good news is that this sling is so inexpensive. If you end up not liking it, you aren't crying about losing a bunch of money. As I said in my review of the TS-SL6, both appear to be well-made and I expect both will last a very long time. I will be looking at JE Machine's products first for future purchases.

Great Value!

In a world where you can pay as much as you want you rarely get to pay as little as you should. This sling is a welcome rarity! It's simple and it's functional. The pincers don't have any lock on them but they are low profile so I don't think that a lock will be necessary. The adjustment loop slides easily to both loosen and tighten the sling. I also bought JE Machine's TS-SL5. This one is bit simpler (just because of the pincers) but both appear to be well-made and I expect both will last a very long time. I will be looking at JE Machine's products first for future purchases.

Pistol and Rifle Magazines But Nothing Else

Written on Mar 04, 2024

If you want to carry 6 AR magazines and 6 double stack pistol magazines and you don't want to spend a bunch of money, look no further. You do have the option of adding more stuff with the Molle on either side of the pockets but that will be more money and effort on your part. I'm sitting as I type this with 6 partially loaded AR magazines and 3 almost full-up double stack magazines and I can feel my mid- and upper back muscles working to keep me upright. The design of this rig doesn't keep the weight close to your body. This may be just what you need if you routinely carry a heavy backpack and need a counterweight.

The velcro webbing keepers manage the excess webbing well and keep the shoulder straps lined up. I will probably cannibalize this chest rig for the keepers to improve one of my other chest rigs.

Versatile Chest Rig

Written on Mar 04, 2024

When I say versatile, I mean that the design of the pockets limits you less than some other chest rigs. These are bigger pockets (especially the two on the sides) that can be used for pistol or rifle magazines or other gear rather than single purpose pockets that only accommodate one particular item. I was able to stuff 14 AR magazines in the 5 pockets. I took out 2 of the AR magazines and replaced them with 3 double stack pistol mags.

This rig lacks Molle so it limits you in that regard. It also doesn't have velcro webbing keepers so you will need to trim excess webbing, let it flap in the breeze or come up with your own solution once you adjust the straps to suit your body. As with the other Condor chest rig I bought and reviewed, it appears to be well-constructed and should hold up well when put into service.

Basic 6x AR Magazine Carrier

Written on Mar 04, 2024

This is the most basic of the 3 chest rigs I bought. I went into this not knowing what I wanted or needed, and this looked like it would be OK. And it is. It has pockets for 6 AR magazines and nothing for pistol magazines as far as I can figure. If that works for you, great! If you need room for pistol magazines there is Molle webbing that you can use to hang more stuff. I like the integrated webbing keepers. Instead of having the extra webbing flapping in the breeze, the velcro keepers control the excess webbing once you get the chest rig adjusted for your body. I haven't taken this chest rig out to range, woods or anyplace else but it seems to be well-constructed. I will be surprised if it doesn't hold up well.
