I swapped my 12 year old Leupold Mk AR mod1 from my Savage 93 .17 hmr onto my new Savage B22. Prior to swapping my new BSA Sweet 17 onto my .17, I could regularly print 1" groups at 100 yards. Today, I tried to get an initial zero at 50 yards and fired three 6 inch groups at 50 yards (getting it on paper before going to back to 100yds). I had to stop right there. The groups were 2" wide with a 6" difference in elevation each time. Meanwhile, with my Savage B22 and Leupold Mk AR mod 1, I quickly zeroed at 50yds while printing .62" groups.

I could not achieve optical focus on my target...I could only get close.
Elevation adjustment seemed almost unresponsive (almost as if dialing up moved my impacts down or not at all while windage adjustments did move my group. 24 clicks yielded 6 inches of windage on paper at 50yds.

I mated this with my pistol lower and went straight to the range. I was able to adjust my Trijicon MRO (2 MOA) to zero at 50 yards with 6 rounds and confirmed my 50 yard zero with 5 more rounds. I printed a 1" group at 50 which is fine with me for my setup. After that, I ran 90 rounds of 55gr M193 and a 20 round mag of 77gr IMI Razor Core. No malfunctions and all brass ejected between 3 and 4 O'clock. My bolt carrier group was pretty dirty after only 121 rounds and, if that is my only complaint, I'm pretty happy with this 10.5" upper.
