This is a scope you could mount on just about anything and get work done. (Not talking to the ELR guys, but they're not looking at these)
First. Yes. There is a center red dot but its hard to see in the photos. The illumination is absolutely daylight bright. I would say just as bright as a quality red dot sight. Something I love about the illumination was something I was initially unsure of. It is stepless. Meaning it doesn't have "settings" or "clicks." It rotates smoothly like the volume knob in your car. Therefore, it doesn’t have off settings in between brightness settings, but it really isn't necessary because it is so smooth.
Turrets are no compromise. Usually, at this price point, you get either tactile/crisp OR audible turrets. These are proudly both. I was impressed. They do both lock, and elevation has a zero stop. It comes pre-installed, so you may have to adjust the zero stop to get zeroed. Parallax goes down to 10 yds
Glass is everything you would expect from a quality German optics manufacturer. Sharp image, and very very little distortion around the edges. I was able to read small print at the very lowest edge of the image. colors are true and bright for a 44mm objective.
Fit and finish is excellent. This is my first GPO, but won't be my last.
Not truly a QD, the blast shield threads onto the comp. I've owned this for 4 years now. Was looking back at old purchases and decided to review. First and foremost, she's thiccc. The weight is definitely noticeable, especially on a 16" barrel. I've had this on the wife's 12.5, and it was much more comfortable. However, it works extremely well on every setup I've tried it with. I've also threaded this on a 9mm pcc and was tolerable with no ear protection, though not recommended. It moves some of the audible "crack" of the round forward, but most importantly, the blast. It is perfectly comfortable to stand next to when someone is using it.
My new favorite bipod, and I own an Atlas. So what LaRue has done is they took an original Harris S-BRM, removed the tensioning device that mates to the sling stud (the smaller knob underneath that loosens up over time unless you Loctite), a bigger knob for the tilt, and their own QD system. The result is a mutt bipod that does everything a Harris S-BRM does, but it has a LaRue QD. I've tried the QD to sling stud adapter from Midwest Industries and was quite wobbly. This solution gets a 10/10 from me. It is a bit more expensive than a Harris plus an adapter, but trust me. It's worth the extra money for what LaRue has done to these. If you love Harris bipods, but want QD, this is it
