Will it work on Kimber R7 Mako? YES!

Written on Oct 21, 2021

I got this sight because I did not want the Crimson trace. When sight came the 2 sets of screws would not work. I called Holosun and was told these were the only sets of screws they supplied. I called Kimber customer support and they could not tell me thread size of mounting holes. It is 6x32 and 1/2 inch screw is what you need. I contacted optics planet about this and tech support was helpful, but they have not seen the Kimber Mako yet. They did put me onto a screw assortment that will fix the screw issue.

This sight has only two holes at front and the slide has 4 posts. To use you must rind down the rear to posts to get optic to sit flush with the slide. I did not need to do this on my Sig P365 xl as it fit.

As to the sight I am in favor of Holosun reticle. I like the circle with the dot as it makes for a very fast acquisition. Build is good and battery is replaceable without taking sight off.

Nikon P-Tactical Spur - Thumbs Up!

Written on Aug 05, 2018

I own most rmr red dot sights since my eyes are getting older so when I saw that Nikon was bring one out I bought it. It is extremely clear and sighting in.was a breeze. I mounted it to a S&W 929 9mm N frame. I was making one hole groups with this combo this morning. I put 150 rounds down range.

The major con with this sight is that it does not follow any standard mounting. i have Vortex, Delta Point, Trijicon, Burris and Romeo-1's and you can find mounts for each. The P-Tach does come with a Picatinny mount and I could of used this with my 929 with the EGW base I had on it. I had found this to put sight a little high so when I read Raptor Engineering made a base that accepts this sight I ordered it and changed the mount on the 929. I am in love with the mount as it moved sight lower onto the gun.

Another item to think about is the warranty is 5 years which is fine but not as good as Vortex unlimited warranty. Once plates are made for Glock, Sig and Walther this will be an outstanding item to buy. I also like that it comes with a rubber lens cover for protection. Much nicer than the Romeo-1 plastic cover or the NON Existent Trijicon rmr.

On a 9mm Carbine

Written on Jul 16, 2018

Bought this scope on advice from Vortex and could not be happier. I put it on a Freedom Ordinance 9mm carbine and found the 1x to be great at close in range and the 6x to let me reach out farther. I was really impressed with the reticle as it makes picking up the target effortless. I also was impressed with how accurate my rifle is with this scope. I ended up using the Vortex Cantilever mount. I also replaced the flip caps that came with the scope with the Vortex defender caps as they are superior. It took the E10 for the rear and O24 for the front,
