Q makes some great stuff. The sling devil is the answer to a question nobody asked. They have 5-7 minute videos hyping it as the greatest thing since sliced bread, but only spending seconds - not nearly enough - time showing how to use it. If you use it on any sling that doesn't terminate in paracord - that's every sling I've ever seen other than this one, purpose made for the sling devil - you'll have to tie paracord to each end of the sling. After going to that trouble and mess you'll have four - double - the connection points to maintain or fail. The sole virtue of this sling - narrow, not padded - is light weight, and there are other light slings out there. Not a fan of the sling devil. All it does is take the place of a knot. And with any sling other than this one, it then requires a knot at the sling.

I hereby begin my crusade against the inexplicable practice of not plainly marking which end is which on an moa mount. LaRue doesn't either. I don't think I've ever seen an moa mount marked, unless maybe a Spur. NF has answered my query by saying the end with the NF marking is the rear. That was for another type of mount, there's no such marking on this mount, the only marking is center top, and without asking you still wouldn't know which end is which if there was an NF marking on one end. Sick of it.

Having heard that this was a really fun, effective device for night observation, I swallowed hard on the price and bit. After a notice that it could be a couple of weeks coming, it arrived a day or so later.

As with any new tech, I was anticipating a learning curve or some difficulties, some aggravation. There was none of that, just plug it in, turn it on, and go. Calibration is automatic - not manual, and no need to remember to cover the lens to do it. Adjust the brightness with one button and that's it. Two remotes are supplied, so there's a choice of mounted controller ore hand held. It does require two cigarette lighter plugs close to each other so I bought a splitter and it works fine. Absolutely a ten for setup.

I do not know of any competing units. In shopping around for vehicle mounted IR I was ready to give up before finding this one. Certainly I have no experience with any, so I can't evaluate resolution, sensitivity, etc., except in comparison to my IR riflescopes. Hard to compare the image on a tiny screen in a scope to a 7" display, and I have yet to actually use it "in the field," but seems very satisfactory.
