Not understanding the good reviews

Written on Feb 19, 2021

I received this red dot and it's going to be returned. This isn't a good design. First, as another reviewer noted, the automatic brightness feature on this optic does not work well due to where the solar panel is placed. Since it's recessed and hidden behind the hood, it doesn't get a good reading on the ambient light and thus your dot is almost always too dim. My Holosun pistol red dots don't have this problem because the panel is located on the hood itself, not hidden behind it. Second, these optics work like a projector, meaning there's a light that's cast onto the screen in front of you. For this optic not being enclosed, that means if any rain or dirt/mud goes over that light, you don't have a red dot on which to see. That means a failed optic and you're in trouble.

There are some neat features to the Holosuns, but this one has a couple big drawbacks for me, and thus I will wait for the enclosed version, hoping both issues are resolved there.

Brown is not really brown

Written on Feb 18, 2021

This bag is great, but I do want to share that the "brown" is hardly brown. It's like a cross between a coyote brown and an OD Green, where the brown is more green than anything. It does not match my other gear and does not represent the color depicted on my computer screens.

The extra strap doesn't make any sense and gets in the way

Written on Dec 04, 2020

The pouch itself is nice, but there's an extra strap on the back of this thing that has the grippy hook (of hook&loop) on both sides for some reason. I called Blackhawk and he told me that it was to attach to molle gear, which makes absolutely no sense because there's only one strap and there's no receiver for the strap to come back to and secure itself. So instead, I either run the strap out the front and it gets caught on my gloves or I run it in the back and it tears up my pants. What I believe this strap is actually for is to secure the pouch when it's rolled up, but still there's too much exposed velcro and it just doesn't make sense.

I wish Blackhawk gave some explanation as to how to use this strap correctly so it isn't interfering during range activity, or taught their customer service reps how to properly use it.

This Holster Doesn't Hold Even Compact Guns

Written on Nov 02, 2020

Felt the need to come on here and say that this is a flawed holster. I don't imagine many people open carrying a drop-leg weapon are looking to put a sub-compact firearm into this holster, but that's about all that will fit. The barrel/slide opening is too small for anything bigger. G19 glocks won't fit, Sig P320 won't, Walther PPQ won't. None of these are even full-sized sidearms. It all just bottoms out on that area and you can't even buckle it closed. Could be a good product but just won't fit normal handguns.
