Review for
CMMG, Inc A1 Stock Assembly
I purchased this to replace an A2 stock on an old colt rifle of mine because I like the shorter length of pull. This product was fully functional, but disappointing. I honestly expected a lot more from CMMG. This stock is NOT a reproduction, but rather a cost-reduced look-alike. The is NOT foam core, but rather just hollow molded plastic. Theoretically gives more room inside, but it sounds hollow when I tap it. The main disappointment for me was the butt plate. The fit between the stock and the buttplate is poor with gaps and overhangs. Worst of all, the trap door is just molded plastic with a "living hinge" and a plastic snap closure that makes me think of Tupperware. I'm seriously reluctant to put anything inside because the door is so flimsy. I wanted to use my colt butt plate from my A2 stock on it, but the dimensions are so out of spec that it barely fits with poor alignment. I may be able carve on the stock with my Dremel until my mil-spec butt plate fits, but that may not work. I will keep this stock and use it, but if I could do over, I would buy a legit repro A1 stock from H&R (PSA) for just a little more money. On the plus side, my stock DID come with an A1 length screw. I bought one separately because I read that this stock did not come with one, so now I have a spare, I guess.

great case

This case is included with magpul eyewear. It is a fantastic sunglasses case. Specifically with magpul glasses it holds the frames securely without contacting any lens surface. This case bumps around my car and never pops open and I have peace of mind knowing that my lenses are protected. Nice soft lining that prevents rattling.

Needs tuning

I saw the negative reviews and purchased anyway because I planned to use in a bolt action 802 which I figured would be less picky than a semiauto. Unfortunately, the catch to feedlip spacing is off resulting in the bolt not being able to close. I ended up using my dremel to adjust the catch and then filing the outside of the feedlips to get the bolt to ride over and push the mag down when cicling. After about an hour of filing here and there, I got it to run smoothly. If you enjoy tinkering, you should get this mag to run fine, but if you want something to work out of the box, go with the mossberg brand mag. On the plus side, I was able to file down the tall follower enough to get an 11th round in the mag. Having a bolt action, the last round hold open feature is of no use to me.
