These HK sights were the easiest to install of any sights I've installed in the last few months - maybe 15 and most of them Trijicon HD's. I usually have to remove some material from the sight with a dovetail file or sandpaper (bottom) but not these. Part of the ease of installation is due to the way HK makes their sights and dovetails. The orange dot really pops and the u-notch makes it quick to find. Great sights.
I mounted this on a Ruger MK III 22 pistol. First range trip the red dot quit appearing after about 50 rounds. The green dot illuminates so i am keeping it for another range trip. If that goes I am returning it. Everything else works as it should. I examined the box it came in after the red dot quit and observed scotch tape along the edge holding it together. May have been a previously returned item. I'm not sure what the return policy is but wish I hadn't waited until just over 60 days to get to the range. THAT won't happen again. If you get one of these try it out immediately.
I run these triggers in two of my AR's. I bought one a year ago and recently bought another to replace a Geissele two-stage (I prefer single stage triggers except for in precision rifles). For the money, it is the best single stage trigger on the market. I use the lighter of the two hammer springs included in the package and some good lube to get my pulls down to just over 4lbs. There is some creep but it is smooth--not gritty like most stock triggers. I have never had a light strike but i only use factory ammo. The included hammer and trigger springs are tighter than stock too. The brushed chrome finish lets me know which guns have this trigger n them too. Very nice!
This is a review of the Vortex Spitfire 1x-AR Prism sight with the DRT reticle, which consists of two concentric circles with a tiny dot in the center (maybe 1 MOA). It comes with flip-p covers and takes a AAA battery (thank goodness) readily available everywhere and easy to change out even with cold, numb hands. I am 53, an accomplished shooter and retired LE instructor. My eyes are deteriorating and I have an astigmatism so needed a prismatic sight rather than a red dot sight for fast work at 150 yards and closer. One of my fellow instructors brought a Leupold prismatic sight to the range last year and I loved it (he's in the same old man boat as I). Unfortunately, Leupold is no longer manufacturing those prismatic sights and they are hard to come by. I did a lot of research and found this one. I have not mounted it and shot it yet, but it appears to be of comparable quality in construction to the Leupold (really) that I examined and used on the range last year. The clarity appears to me to be the same and the cost is half. The reticle is etched so it will never break as wire reticles do. It is also illuminated--the full two circles and dot, not just the dot. I am still trying to work out this DRT reticle, but here are my observations (if anyone can help me please do): The inner circle (44”) will cover crotch to crown of an average man at 100 yards. The center dot to the inside of the center ring (20.5” round off to 20) will cover an average man’s shoulder widt
I have several sets of other orange dot front/u-shaped rear sight sets but wanted something a little more economical for my SW Compact. The front sight is the most important and I could live with the factory rear painted dots. This sight installed with a sight pusher without me having to sand down the bottom as I do on so many others. The orange square draws your eye to it in the daytime and fills the sight notch for a great sight picture. The tritium insert is easy to pick up in low light. Shot about 50 rounds and no movement, works great - especially for really fast shooting within 15 yards. Highly recommended.
