I was looking for a Red Dot Optic (preferably Holosun) that fit the slide of my Smith & Wesson 10mm without using an adapter plate. This optic was the only one and I’m extremely pleased that it is a Holosun. I have numerous optics on different firearms and prefer to stay with one manufacturer as much as possible. This optic fit the bill.

This kit is a must for any shooters that have Red Dot Optics installed on their firearms. As we all know, the optics just like the firearms accumulate all kinds of grime from the range or other shooting and the manufactures have certain requirements for cleaning the lens to prevent damage. This pen from Nikon works great for a quick clean of firearms optics without even coming off the firing line. This has a permanent place in my range bag.

This kit from Zeiss (well known for quality lens) more than fits the bill for caring for firearm optics. This has a permanent place in my range bag.

I’ve used these grips in the past but sold my last pair when I got rid of my Beretta 92. I’ve subsequently purchased a new Beretta 92 and since it is NOT optics ready, this is really the best way to add a laser sighting device. I was pleased with my old pair and am looking forward to using this pair. As a PS, I used my first pair on a US Army Beretta during two tours in Iraq.

Quality optic. Fits my Kimber R7 Mako (with adapter plate) perfectly. The Kimber came with a marginal Crimson Trace, plastic optic. This was a “no frills” optic and I chose to upgrade.

The Holosun optic has numerous brightness settings along with three separate retical settings plus a “lockout” to prevent accidental changes of the user settings. Another big plus is that the optic does NOT have to be unmounted to change the battery. The battery is accessed via a small screw and cover on the R/H side and it takes the standard CR2030 battery.

Settings are quickly and easily adjusted via two + and - buttons on the left side. I was concerned that by adding the adapter plate that I would lose the co-witness but that is not the case. The Holosun optic retains the co-witness…another huge plus. Site acquisition is quick and clear and the site comes zeroed at about 25 years which allows for quick adjustments.

I am more than pleased with this site and highly recommend it. BYW, I actually purchased two of these for both of my Kimbers.

I originally purchased another optic but had to return it because it didn’t fit my Kimber.

Bought the Holosun because it would mount on my Kimber. This is a quality built optic and I was pleasantly surprised that when I mounted it, I did not lose my “co-witness.” I was concerned that I would bit this optic mounted quickly and easily and as soon as I looked through the sight, I noticed that I still had a co-witness with my iron sights. This optic also has several brightness settings as well as different reticle options. Another great feature is not having to unmount the optic to change batteries. A small screw on the side allows access to the side mounted battery compartment. Great feature.

I highly recommend this optic.

I ordered two of these options after doing a great amount of research. Unfortunately, I was given some inaccurate information concerning this optic and my pistols. Trijicon does not make an optic for my particular weapon, Kimber R7 Mako. The Kimber came with a less than stellar CT (plastic) optic and I wanted to upgrade. After receiving the optic and dinging that it didn’t fit, I called Trijicon. They advised me that they don’t have an optic for the Kimber nor do they plan on producing one.

That being said, this is a quality optic and I wish it had worked out. I had to return the optic.

For the most part, I carry a .45 pistol but there are times that a .45 is a little too big so I then pick up my Kimber R7 Mako in 9mm. I’ve used various types of 9mm ammunition looking for the best performance (stopping power) and have decided on the Speer Gold Dot 124 grain Hollow Points. This is an outstanding 9mm round. In addition to its ballistic capabilities, I have never had any type of misfire or stoppage. Price is a little higher than some, but you get what you pay for. I try to buy locally but this ammunition is almost always out of stock so I turn to my ever excellent online store, Optics Planet. I highly recommend both the ammunition and Optics Planet.

This is the ammunition that I always carry in my 9mm weapons for self defense. I’ve found that it gives me the best ability for these weapons. It came highly recommended to me a few years ago but I have been unable to find it locally…it always seems to be sold out. I’ve purchased ammunition and accessories from Optics Planet before and have always been pleased with the items and service.
