Not a keeper

Written on Aug 02, 2014

Tried this scope at $220 (had a $50 off coupon) and ended up selling locally at a gun show at my cost.

The ZV line is made in China. The ZA line is made in America with German glass. The ZE line is 100% made in Germany.

I have a Minox ZA-5 HD that I think is a quite good scope. I would love to try a ZE sometime. I think Minox builds very nice German grade optics, but the ZV line is just not there for me.

Why? The eye relief is not very forgiving in the ZV line... like so many cheap $200-$300 scopes.

Ring of Blur

Written on Aug 02, 2014

Not a bad $130 scope (10% coupon purchase). But compared to a Minox ZA-5 1.2x6 or a Leupold Mark AR 1x4 this scope is absolutely inferior. It is also heavy... Surprisingly heavy... i.e. like pound and a half VERY HEAVY. Korean manufacturing.

Use on a budget AR for sure, but not a keeper for me. I hoped for the best, but didn't succeed. Plan to return or sell locally at cost.

The Ring of Blur is the outside 20% of the lense... the center is pretty clear.
