Runs great on a 18 inch Faxon barrel with or without can, can used is an older OSS Helix 556
Using a FRT it’s flawless. I tried this on my other Rock River lar using the same lower with a heavy buffer. Something is off on RR as it FTF on the last 3 rounds. The bolt works great for no gas in your face. OSS states no blow back but that’s not true as my eyes would burn a little and I wear prescription glasses. With this bolt I get no gas in my face and it’s really nice. The FRT runs a little slower but it’s better for accuracy. Definitely recommend this bolt if you’re running a can with or without FRT

Review for
Midwest Industries Upper Receiver Rod
Love it, locks up tight so your putting stress on your upper. Great for swapping barrels, cans and breaks. Definitely worth it. Don’t be a cheap head and get it if you’re looking to swap out the barrel. My can gets carbon locked, I use anti seize and it still locks up. This makes it easy to remove the can. I’m on my 3rd build and love this tool. Just make sure you have a solid vise to lock it in.

Great bolt, check out Geissele . Those are the best money can buy. This one is pretty good if you run a can. The ports do work and I’m running a flow through OSS Helix. Even that say no blow back. That’s not true. I was getting debris back in my face as run my guns wet like I like my girls. This bolt definitely made a difference and makes it more enjoyable to shoot. Just DO NOT USE an ultrasonic cleaner. This will diss color the bolt but I was able to polish it out and it looks like new again. Works in all 556 platforms. Runs a little slower if you’re using an FRT and may need to tune it properly. Happy with it but I will get a Guissley for my next project if I can find one.

I did not head space and works great with any BCG. I’m getting sub 1/2 moa with target rounds . Match rounds are all in the same hole. Do your build correctly and you’ll get great results. I’m hesitant to try Criterion for my next build as the Faxon is so accurate. Heat doesn’t affect my accuracy and stays consistent.

I’m getting rounds in the same hole used Hornady 75 grain match ammo using a Helix 556 can. Even after mag dumps the accuracy does not change. Very impressed and will be getting another Faxon for my next build

Installed on a PSA upper. My 1st time changing a barrel. I will remove and lap the upper per Brownells. So far I’m getting rounds in the same hole with all types of ammo. Run a Hx556 can and with or without the can this a highly accurate barrel. I did season it so not really sure if that was needed but I thoroughly cleaned the barrel with Kroil before installing it. Went to the range and shot one round, then cleaned it with Kroil and a boresnake for about 10 rounds. I ordered a Aero receiver and will build with the Faxon . I don’t expect better accuracy as I punching rounds in the same hole as is but I want a high end Rifle and Faxon is definitely worth it. I’m very pleased and will buy another for my FRT build.

Mounted on an 18 fluted barrel. Wish I used a longer one as the gas tube is not covered and can be whacked out if you drop it. I use for target and holds well. The barrel nut is heavy and bulky. Make sure you torque it down and loosen it up a few times to make sure it’s secure. Overall it’s a great rail. Gets hot with rapid fire so gloves may be useful.
