I have a pair of S&W M&P15's that I mounted these on. One is setup for CQB and the other is scoped. At the time I never shot with gloves and noticed my hand was occasionally pushing up to the edge of the gas block, and of course that baby gets HOT! I didn't want to go and spend all the money for a full floating setup with a low profile gas block, but wanted to be able to extend my grip out. I also wanted to keep my rig as light as possible.

This is a perfect solution for that. No, they are not easy to install, but I did it without a delta ring tool...just take your time and try not to kill your fingertips. But once on, they are solid and seem just as tight as S&W parts. I like the slim look and feel, and the plastic is rougher than the stock parts. They are light, but still 2oz heavier than stock. I made up for an ounce of that by grinding off the A2 sight. Of course to get the forward protection you have to lose access to the sling mount. Plan on *another* $20+ for a suitable MOE attachment.

Have this mounted to my S&W M&P-15. Was using a Strikefire II red dot. I always felt the red dot was just too blurry no matter what power you set it for. I also hated how all the buttons/electronics/battery were protruding out from the scope barrel, ruining the surrounding sight picture. Moved to the Spitfire and could not be happier. The dual rings around the dot make it easier to get you on target, and being etched into the glass they are *much* sharper and crisp. And you will still have markings if the battery dies. Love how the battery and buttons are under the optic and out of the way.

Cons... I wish the reticle dials were even smaller. I mean, after you get it zeroed out, just how often are you going to change? Being a reflex sight your eye position is more critical than with a reflective red dot. The included mount wrench does not fit the bolts that well. Lens caps are cheap, throw them away.
