Worth the wait

Written on Mar 16, 2015

I ordered the newest version of the Photon XT 4.6x42 just after Christmas. Upon receipt 2 1/2 months later, I was amazed at the clarity and ease of use. Just as mentioned in previous reviews, the on board IR is suitable for closer ranges, but a moonless night looking for coyotes requires an additional source. I chose the Nitecore CI6. Additionally, the previous problems have been addressed; The objective lens cap swings open, and has a small hole for daytime use. The cushioned ocular allows for comfort and blocks outside light. As far as mounting, I had a set of medium rings, but they are not tall enough. I ended up with a Burris PEPR with QD levers, something that will work for me to change the scope from a tactical .22 to my .223 or 300 Blackout, or on to my hog gun, the Remington AAC-SD in .308. A couple rounds to check accuracy is all it takes. I love the digital controls, from changing the reticle style and color, to sighting it it. Yes, I waited over 2 months, but I love the scope. It is a little bulky, but does not seem fragile. I have not connected the video output to any digital recording devices yet, so I cannot quote on that. I do wish it would be compatible with an Android phone, I hope that more information becomes available for this option. The scope is definitely worth the price, and the wait.
