I really like this new model binoculars from Leupold. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
Relatively lightweight
Very clear and sharp
Great light-gathering
Thumb indents and double hinge design is very comfortable
Nice textured armor coating
Great center focus wheel action - smooth and precise
Cons:
The side slots for tethers are very small. I tried two different sets of tethers and couldn't get them through the slots. I had to buy adapters and had to trim the adapters to get them to fit through the slots.
The diopter focus wheel is in front of (mounted against) the center focus wheel and a little hard to adjust. In fact, the diopter wheel on the first pair of binos that I bought from O.P. seemed defective, so I returned them for an exchange. (Optics Planet was fantastic with the exchange, by the way! A+ on that, O.P.!) The replacement binos work fine.
The pros outweigh the cons by quite a bit, in my estimation. These are fine binoculars. And the customer service from Optics Planet is top notch!

This system has a fantastic bino case that met all of my expectations: Very trim and lightweight, one-hand operation, good bino protection, with side pockets and zippered front pocket, molle straps and a really soft inner lining, and non-magnetic closure, and it comes in two sizes - the standard size is just right for my 10x42 glass. It comes with a matching removable range finder pouch and both pouches have tethers.
BUT the harness is junk. (What was Vortex thinking!) It looks like something from a kiddy toy, and it's not comfortable to wear. The buckles are cheap-looking, and worst of all it cannot be adjusted after it's put on, which means it can't be snugged-up or loosened by pulling on a strap.
I absolutely LOVE this case, but I may have to return it because of the horrible harness. Sorry, Vortex, you just missed having a real top-notch bino system by not realizing that the quality of the harness is as important as the quality of the bag. Upgrade the harness and you will have a winner.
