300 Black that just works - Supers and Subs
Written on Jul 18, 2024
Review for
Daniel Defense DDM4 300 S, URG, 10.3in, 300 AAC Blackout Complete Upper Receiver w/ Flash Hider
This is a great deal. This is a very high-quality DD SOCOM-MK18 upper chambered in 300 Blackout. A MK 18 retails from DD for $2,200. The math is simple: pair this with a very high quality lower and use the savings to buy ammo.
It is heavy because of the pic rails on top, bottom, left and right, but that doesn't bother me. The bird cage flash hider works well, but let's be honest you're going to be shooting this suppressed. And the really good news is that, in my experience, range and match supers and subs cycle fine with a suppressor. I haven't had to make a change to the buffer assembly and haven't had to consider an adjustable gas block. It just works.

The most battle proven optic of all time?
Written on May 20, 2024
I purchased the red crosshair variant of the Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG).
There's a good reason this optic has been fielded in every major conflict since the early 90s. What you're getting:
- It was purpose built for the M4 carbine and you can tell
- The most armed conflict fielded magnifed optic - of all time
- Incredible visibility
- Extremely durable (no moving parts, can be used with 50 BMG, waterproof)
- Always on - day or night (fiber optic or tritium)
The eye relief isn't great, but you can mitigate it with a mount that allows you to position the eye piece rear of the charging handle.
Yes, there are limitations, but I also realize there is no free lunch. Tradeoffs are tradeoffs. I purchased the 4x32 because it is one of the most trusted optics ever designed.

Extremely Well Designed

It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for with this product.
- It fits my handgun like a glove (obviously, purchase the holster that fits your firearm)
- The pistol is extremely secure when it enters the holster
- The tensioning system allows you to eliminate any play within the holster
- Ergonomics are very intuitive
- Suede interior lining to protect your pistol's finish
- Straight 12 o'clock draw
