There's a lot of junk wrenches on the market. This is not one of them. I've yet to run into a barrel nut or muzzle device that it doesn't adapt to. What some would call "excessive" force used to free up someone's locktite-laden regret isn't even enough to scuff the finish on this little guy. If you often work, or see yourself working on a number of ARs in the future, this wrench is well worth the investment. The areas to fit your torque wrench are sized correctly (you do have a 1/2" drive torque wrench, right?). If you need a wrench, get it. Is it more expensive? Yeah. It's also better than every single one out there.
My dad had an old, used parts-bin rifle that someone slapped together with spit and duct tape. Had good bones, but the guy who put it together clearly didn't know what he was doing. Decided it might be time to redecorate it. Between this beefy handguard and a new Ballistic Advantage Hanson barrel, I got his rifle looking mighty sharp. Fantastic machining in the handguard as well as finish. Looks perfect all around and not a single burr seen or felt. Shaved just under 1.5 lbs off the front end of it between this and the barrel. Points very quickly and precisely now. The big guy couldn't be happier with it. He's got big paws, so he appreciates the over-sized handguard diameter. If you're in the Large-XL category of hands, this is the handguard for you. Also, if you want to build a pistol with an oversized handguard to slip a suppressor in to act as a bit of a heat shield, this would also work if the suppressor is skinny enough, but I digress. Either way, I recommend you get a proper armorer's wrench to put it on. Spend a little money and get one if you ever plan to build or customize more than 1 AR. And a quality upper clamshell vice block. Dont be cheap. Learn from my mistakes! The wrench it comes with works...kinda. but my MI armorer's wrench made short work of it without marring or damaging the barrel nut. Wouldn't suspect the same from the included one, but admittedly I didn't try it.
The short of it is that it's a flashlight with a tail that works well and mounts however you want it to. All upside. Want more? OP says I need to write more, so here it is. It's not so bright that you'll blind yourself off the walls with the business end pointed away from you. But if you're looking down the barrel of it, your eyes are going to have a bad day. 625 lumens is far more than enough to keep your profile obscured while blinding the bad guy. Don't chase the highest lumen number, as it won't actually benefit you if you're looking for a quick activating light for the house that blinds the bad guys and not you. If you want something with more throw for outdoor or duty use, then by all means get something with a bit more horsepower. For the civilian home-gamer though, this will light up what you need to see just fine. The mounts are strong, but I recommend adding your own blue locktite or rocksett to the screws if you're gonna mount it with the MLok hardware. Have t tried mounting with picatinny as I had no need for it, but I'd assume it's the same deal. End of the day Streamlight is a good brand and I've had a ton of their stuff over the years. It'd serve you well if you're in the market for a weapon torch.
