I needed to finish a stripped upper and this is what I used, along with a CMMG Zeroed dust cover. This forward assist seems fine, it was easy to install and it looks good. The finish is smooth and black, not a rough parkerized finish which I kind of expect on inexpensive steel AR small parts. All in all it will be fine and has the look I want: plain but clean with no paddle hanging off of it.

I like polymer dust covers to avoid marring the lower receiver when the cover snaps open. I have owned covers from Strike and they are nice but I wanted a cleaner look for my current AR upper project. The CMMG Zeroed dust cover has that clean look, it fits my upper just fine but I look at the tiny details. The dust cover has a tiny amount of flash from the injection molding process. The flash has no impact on function and you wouldn't even notice it unless you're weird like me but I was able to easily remove the flash with a razor blade so now it looks perfect. I am going to leave the dust cover off until I have to install it just in case it would get marred while I'm installing the barrel but I don't see any issues occuring because it seems to fit the ejection port as perfectly as any I've installed. I don't want my AR to be a billboard so I like it a lot.
