Not a bad charging handle

Written on Nov 30, 2024

I generally go with Radian but this time I was looking to match the rest of my ODG parts so I went with this. It has a lower price point than Radian and if you aren't looking to deflect gas, it works perfectly well. I think I like it.

One of the Best BCGs

Written on Nov 30, 2024

I bought this for my Aero build because they are generally considered on par with Daniel Defense and other high quality manufacturers. Just finished the build and only have 30 rounds through it. It passed all the tests I put it through before installation and functioned flawlessly with the first mag. I have no reason to believe I won't be happy with this BCG.

Hugs your hand...

Written on Oct 29, 2024

I have this grip on all of my AR platforms. It just fills my hand the right way. I have heard some complain that eventually it gets "oiled" up with hand sweat. I guess I should remain silent on that one but there is such a thing as rubbing alcohol. None of my grips have given me anything but complete satisfaction. I really like that Hogue puts this grip in multiple colors too.

Very Satisfied

I originally purchased an Aero Precision BCG to go in my 300BLK pistol build. That came out of the package failing the gas rings test so I sent it back to Optics Planet and got this Andro BCG. The one I got was fully plated including the bolt and the gas key. I don't have a hundred rounds through the build yet but this BCG has functioned flawlessly and I can't help it...it looks really cool when that dust cover is open. A little bling don't hurt nothin.

Great barrel for the price

Written on Oct 03, 2024

I have reviewed this same barrel before. I guess the best review I can give it is that I bought it again. Both barrels came with a pinned, low profile gas block. I don't know if Ballistic Advantage is still doing this. I recently built a pistol with an 8.3" Ballistic Advantage barrel. It didn't come with a pinned block so I contacted BA to see if I could send the barrel to them to have it done. NOPE, they don't perform that service. I consider myself very fortunate to get two of these pinned block barrels. That gas block is not going anywhere period. I have not run the first barrel through the ringer for accuracy with good ammo yet. With cheap range ammo, I'm getting 2 to 3 MOA. For a truck gun, I can live with that.

Update of previous review

Written on Jun 25, 2024

My previous review is still pending approval but I couldn't find an option to edit it. So anyway here is something all buyers should be aware of with the Blade 1x25. The scope has a preinstall sun shade on the objective lens. It is on there pretty tight but it has to be removed in order to screw in the provided anti reflection hood. This would seem to have been something to include with the instructions. Silly me for not figuring it out. Thanks to Swampfox for providing that information to me in an email. So...I am very happy with the optic.

Just got it but I think I like it.

I mounted this on my 8.3 in. 300 Blk. build. It is designed for defensive ranges with a 50 yard zero. The reticle has gradations for several less than 50 yard ranges. I like that the reticle is black and absolutely visible with the power off in bright daylight conditions. I also like the "shake awake' feature of the optic. If you touch the gun, the reticle lights up to the brightness it was set at when the weapon was laid down. I also like that the battery is a 123 and not some stack of hard to find wafers. I haven't zeroed it or tested it for holding zero so I can't rate it on that. Two things I am not satisfied with are, 1: the honeycomb anti-reflection devise that came with the optic absolutely does not fit. I have contacted Swampfox this morning. No reply as yet. 2: the flip-up lens covers that came with it are too loose fitting - so much so that the one on the rear gets knocked off when simply trying to pop it open. I think I can resolve this using electrical tape or maybe a thin coat of silicone on the inside of the ring. It's not a deal breaker. All in all, I am fairly sure it was the right choice for a home defense pistol build.

Highly Disappointed

Written on Jun 20, 2024

I purchased the Aero Precision black nitride BCG for my .300 BLK build. I was using Aero Precision upper and lower and wanted to keep the build to that brand. When the BCG arrived I inspected it and thought the gas rings felt loose but they did hold the BCG up with the bolt extended ... just barely. I considered that a pass and went ahead and put the BCG in the build. After completing the build, I lubed it up and ran 20 rounds through it for function testing. I removed the BCG afterwards and just that 20 rounds caused it to fail the gas ring test. I don't know if the internals of the BCG are too large as I don't own those gauges. But I have six other rifles with tons of rounds through them and this was the first BCG I have ever had fail the test. It is boxed up and going back to Optics Planet for a store credit. I won't be buying another AP BCG. Going to go inspect the one I have on my AR 10 to make sure it passes now.

Can't go wrong with this barrel

Written on Feb 14, 2024

I used the BA Premium Series barrel on an Aero Precision build (my first). The barrel extension to receiver fit was very tight. I was finally able to test the new rifle today and while I did not bench it for accuracy, I hit what I was aiming at from the shoulder. The rifle functioned flawlessly, indicating the pinned gas block (included) and system is spot on. Will I buy another BA barrel? Absolutely! Can't wait to get started on a .300 pistol build.

Aero Precision Quality

Written on Feb 09, 2024

I finished off my Aero Precision build with this rail and I am glad I did. The only thing I don't like about it is that the QD sling holes aren't steel lined. I can see them wearing out with any substantial use. Something else builders should be aware of (this was my first build) is that the barrel nut as well as the special wrench needed for it actually come packaged with the rail. It also comes with shims to perfectly clock the barrel nut. Not knowing about the included barrel nut and wrench, I purchased both separately prior to ordering the rail. Now, I have an extra wrench and barrel nut for sale cheap. :-)
