I like the slim design of this handguard. The diameter feels good in my hand and the smooth sides are more comfortable than Picatinny rail. I bought this because I was putting a Superlative Arms piston kit on one of my AR's and the four rail handguard that was on the gun when I started didn't have quite enough height clearance for the gas block. The Superlative Arms piston kit has a pretty low profile gas block, but it was just a hair too tall for the setup I was running. The Midwest Industries G3 handguard allows the gas block to extend up a little higher than a standard handguard with rails on a round tube. The way it slides straight onto the barrel nut instead of screwing onto it lets you use all the height of the channel inside the top rail. It's a lot easier to align the top rail with the rail on the upper receiver when installing because you slide it on and tighten up the screws that clamp it to the barrel nut rather than the handguards I've used before which screw onto the barrel nut and are secured with a jam nut. This is a well designed piece of equipment. It's rock solid on the gun and I have no fear of it moving or slipping. Fit and finish were perfect, and for what it's worth I think it's good looking. It's much lighter than the handguard it replaced, and the M-Lok system gives you a great selection of really low profile mounting options for slings, bipods, lights, and tape switches.
