Midwest upper receiver rod

Written on Jan 23, 2025

This receiver rod holds firmly the upper to the barrel. So there is no stress put on the upper undercut to barrel locating pin.

WHAT HAPPENED LAPUA?

Written on Jan 15, 2025

Lapua used to be premium brass. Unfortunately over the years Lapua has worsened. Most of the people buying this BR brass are precision shooters. And we deserve precision brass. 400 pieces of brass that has a 3 grain difference in weight is not precision brass. So instead of a piece of brass costing $1.67. It cost over $6.60 to get 100 pieces of good brass that weighs in.

Locks down the barrel

Written on Jan 15, 2025

The upper receiver rod prevents a load on the locking pin of the barrel and the locking pin slot of the upper when torquing the barrel nut.

Vortex L-Tec Turret Tool

Great All-In-One tool for the scope. Hard plastic so not to mar the scope caps. Steel allen.

Pelican Vault V800

Written on Sep 21, 2024

This is the second gun case I purchased. The first was about 4 years ago. I used an electric carving knife to cut the rifle pattern out of the foam for a secure fit. Is a strong, water tight, HEAVY case. Plenty of strong latches. It is advertised as a double gun case. And it can easily hold two. But I have chosen to use it as a single gun case storing my magazines and attachments. Very happy with its performance.

Poor Manufacturing

Written on Aug 14, 2024

On both stocks I received (I sent one back for another). They had the same problem in different degrees.
I purchased this stock because of its flat fore-end and for its aluminum V-block bedding. The problem is when the action is installed on the V-block bedding. The action is (1)Canted to the right and (2)Pointed down to the fore-end. (1)This may not be a problem to a shooter that sights his scope at a distance and leaves it. But if you are shooting where constant elevation and windage adjustments are needed. You effect the elevation and windage (Left/right) at the same time you adjust a single scope turret.
(2) By the V-block also being canted down, You are using all the scopes adjustment to counter the effect. It also effects the distance between the barrel and fore-end.
