HOGUE big butt grip

Written on Nov 04, 2025

I liked this grip enough that I bought a second one for an L frame revolver.

These will be used on competition guns. They help place the hand in the same place on the grip when coming out of the holster. As a bullseye shooter that uses bizarre orthopedic grips with palm shelves and thumb rests, I find that the "butt" on the grip provides good support for my hand.

Quality construction with nice finish on the wood. The rubber grip section is identical to the Hogue MONO-GRIP, that I use on other revolvers.

Advantage arms 1911 magazines

Written on Jun 23, 2024

I purchased an Advantage Arms 1911 Target conversion about a month ago. I have used it for several Steel Challenge/Rimfire Challenge competitions and it works flawlessly with the Advantage Arms 1911 .22 magazines.

A friend gave me three magazines from another manufacturer and they consistently failed. Three "advantages" to the Advantage Arms 1911 magazines are the slide will lock back, they are easy to load with a rod to hold down the magazine follower, and they are reliable.

I now have 6 of these magazines, enough for any competition.

advantage arms target conversion

I am using this on an STI trojan 1911 frame. I am VERY pleased with this conversion. I use mostly mini-mags with it and it is both reliable and accurate. I will use this for Steel Challenge and Rimfire Challenge matches with iron sights, or if I would decide to use if for precision pistol, I would mount a red dot on the included combo rail. I feel the accuracy is similar to my Hammerli pistols I use for precision pistol. Excellent purchase
