I purchased this after reading reviews and noting it was rated as a best buy. I was prepared to spend a good deal more money, but I'm glad I bought this. I put it on a .22 LR Ruger Target model, not a .22 Magnum. It's a little large for most .22's, but looks right on the heavy barrel target model. It was easy to install and zero. The morning after installing it I arose before daylight and sat with it on the back patio as the sun came up. The light gathering properties compare favorably with a $200+ brand name scope I used to be happy with! This scope is my second Simmons and I'm happy with both of them. This scope represents real value. My only complaint would be the rings, included free, could be a little better. I may replace them later.

In perusing the comments the only negatives I can find are to the effect that these are "cheap" (i.e. plastic) and "massive". I had to chuckle. I bought a pair of these (front and rear) to co-witness with the optical sight on my newest AR. They installed easily, zeroed easily, offer a good sight picture through either of two apertures, they're rugged and light. They compare very favorably to some much more expensive units from Troy industries which are on another carbine I own, and cost less than half as much. These are the best buy in the marketplace!

I put this item on a newly put together AR-15. At this price point there's no magnification available, but so long as you don't turn it on too high for conditions the 5 MOA dot is crisp and round. With both eyes open it's extremely quick and easy to use at close quarters, and I can still shoot a pretty good group with it out to 100 yards or so. It was quick and easy to zero with positive clicks, and after a few hundred rounds it's still holding its' zero. The dot isn't as good as an Aimpoint, and I can't shoot impressive groups at long distances with it. But, at this price point and for my intended uses it's a good value. I might buy another one for a pistol caliber carbine in the back of the safe.
