The color and finish on the outside are nice however the inside of the tube is not slick and machining marks a very visible. I compared this tube with my other ones using the same buffer and spring to switch from lower to lower and this tube is noticeably louder and less smooth than even the cheapest basic milspec buffer tube i have. The thread seem a bit soft even for aluminum.
Loud, loud, loud. Terrible finish, looks cheap. Spring end doesn't fit onto buffer shoulder properly. Spring makes a lot more scraping noise than a cheap milspec round spring. I haven't tested function actually shooting with it but I can tell you I'm not even gonna try because this thing sounds absolutely awful.
As title says it will work with the magpul vertical grip but you will need to carefully trim the plug. the arched side stops will need to be trimmed flat and the ribs on the inner part will need to be trimmed off. If you take your time you can make it look like its a factory fit. Fits snug but not too snug, i love mine, I've done it twice now. Use a brand new razor blade and patience.
Yhm makes amazing stuff thats affordable, well thought out and just works right. I love this handstop. It has qd holes on both sides, it has a loop hole on the bottom, it uses good mlok hardware and is both a handstop and barricade rest. Lights, quality metal, looks minimal and doesn't look tacky like some other brands. Yhm is the best best best best stuff.
Magpul should have used all 4 of the light's mounting screw holes to secure the light to the mount but they only used 2 of the smaller ones. The issue with this is the screw holes on the light base are already very small and the aluminum is very soft, and using two of the small holes instead of all 4 (which could have for sure been done) may seem ok in theory but it doesn't stand the test of time. Since the light is mounted in a way where the stress is mostly placed on only two veryyyy small screws the light will get loose after many rounds unless you're shooting 22cal, anything with a decent punch will continually loosen the screws no matter how much locktite you use or how careful you are with torquing down the screws, and after about 200 rounds the screw holes were useless and starting to strip. All the other heavy duty mounts available for these lights use the two bigger mounting screw holes on the bottom side of the light. I will say that even the original picatinny mount that comes installed on the light from factory uses the two smaller side screw holes and that mount will also fail as well. My suggestion is to look at other heavy duty mounts, this one isn't designed to last.
