Bulldog Camo Case

Written on Jan 21, 2017

Very good construction nicely padded case. Ordered several case at one time. This one was back ordered when it showed 1-in stock? Got this for my wife's Savage 93R17-BRJ 17HMR rifle. Like the other case purchased will sew in velcro strap and a muzzle pouch for greater protection.

Bulldog Case

Written on Jan 21, 2017

Ordered several of the Bulldog brand cases. Good construction nothing fancy. Will sew in some velcro straps and a muzzle pouch for added protection. Good buy for the money. This case showed "in stock" but delivery was delayed due to "out-of-stock". However was not in a hurry...have had this happen a couple of times with Optics Planet.

First Sightron

Written on Jan 05, 2017

This is the first Sightron scope that I have ever owned. Not many retailers carry them so I was a little reserved about ordering but decided to take a chance based on reviews. I was not disappointed. I bought this scope at the same time I bought a Nightforce Benchrest 10-42x56mm. Side by side in normal light conditions they are equal, only in lower light conditions does the Nightforce excel over the Sightron. I ordered the fine cross hair with a center dot reticle and am very happy with it. I mounted the scope to a Savage 6.5mm Creedmoor LRP rifle. I am still breaking the gun so I have not shot it out past 200 yards yet. I would recommend the large wheel focus knob as the paralax focus is very touchy. I think the $140 price tag for the wheel is steep and a person could probably make something that would be functional. The reticle is not illuminated which is fine 98% of the time. But I was focusing on black background targets at 400 yards and it was easy to lose the "dot" in the middle of the scope. The Nightforce Benchrest is illuminated and helped greatly in this situation...however it also cost $600 more than the Sightron. Also a little disappointed that you have to order a sun shade separate from the scope. Most higher end scopes anymore come with them.

High Quality Scope

Written on Jan 05, 2017

Scope being used on a Savage FTR 308 rifle for benchrest and prone shooting. Glass is the usual high quality from Nightforce. Also ordered a Sightron SIII 10-50x60mm scope. Both are great scopes but the Nightforce is better in low light conditions. The illumination helps in the lower light conditions and also against dark back drops. Really like the NP-2DD reticle. Still breaking in the rifle so have not shot out long distance yet, but I can see .17cal holes in targets at 250 yards so I know it will be great out to 1000 yards.
