Leupold Alumina Lens Caps

Written on Sep 20, 2014

I ordered the Leupold Alumina lens caps (set) for my Mark 4 Mod 1 P5 scope. I mounted the scope on a Core-15 TAC III AR-15. I wanted decent lens cap covers for my scope to a) protect the lens and my investment; b) minimize the dust and unintentional finger prints, dirt, etc. While the Alumina line of lens caps are very expensive, one has to consider the cost/investment in the scope that you are trying to protect. In addition, the caps are metal, not plastic. The lens caps are threaded and attach directly on to the Objective and Eyepiece so you don't have to worry about them "slipping" of the outside of the lens. I bought the set that provides the correct size lens to match their respective end of the scope. If there is any complaint (very minor) I'd have to say it was finding the exact starting point to start turning the lens cap on my Eyepiece end. Several times the final stopping point, would place the "open" position of the lens cap in a place where I didn't want it to be. This can be remedied by trying different starting points for attaching the cover. You'll eventually get it perfect. These lens caps are a classic case of you get what you pay for. There are much cheaper plastic lens caps that will do the job, but the quality of materials, fit, finish (matches scope material) and bragging rights were my personal reasons for purchasing. The folks at OpticsPlanet.com do a great job of processing orders and getting your purchase in your hands as quickly as possib

Excellent Quality, Fit and Finish

Written on Jul 30, 2014

I had been looking for a double mag case to hold my double stack 45 ACP mags that go with my Springfield 45 XD. I selected this model based on BlackHawk's name and reputation. I was not disappointed in the least. I ordered the flat matte finish, not the carbon fiber as shown. I like carbon fiber, but the flat matte matches all my other holsters and gear. I expected good quality, but was actually more than pleased with the purchase. The case will handle belts up to 1 and 3/4 inches with no problem. You can adjust the retention, as well as the height/depth of the mag case in relation to your belt. Most of the mag carriers that I have were provided by the manufacturer when I purchased the firearm. None of them have even come close to the quality of the Blackhawk case. Whether you shoot competively or for fun, you will be happy with the purchase. I highly recommend!
