Great Folding Stock
Written on Jan 12, 2023
Choate is the best as far as shotgun folding stocks go. Probably your only option for a steel hinge these days. Its heavy, but the hinge/adapter is made out of steel. I was also surprised that I was able to easily put a Magpul AK Pistol Grip on this with a little bit of filing to the grip to better clear the triggwr guard for take down.I threw this on a Civet 12 with a Magpul CTR and could not be happier. It locks folded and unfolded with an easy to push button, and even has a sling loop. It comes with a type of end plate that prevents buffer tube rotation which was a nice touch

Excellent Optic

Excellent Optic, great specs and features.
My only complaint is that is sits higher than other optics. An Absolute Co-witness Mount will give you a 1/3 Cowitness. Just keep that in mind.
These are now issues on Estonia's LMT Rifles along with the HMX3 Magnifier.

Excellent Grip, Meh hardware
Written on Jun 05, 2022
Review for
UTG Pro Compact Foregrip
Honestly the screws for this were too short for my liking. Those using this on polymer handguard might have slight issues.
I replaced them with Magpul Hardware and the appropriate thread pitch (10-24)/screw type (cap head) that would fit inside of the vertical grip body. This thing is rock solid now, and I love the grip texture.

Mounts up solid. Nice tight fit with CTR Stock

Mounts up solid. Nice tight fit with CTR Stock
Also here's a life hack for cleaning kit storage without any rattle.
-Unscrew Storage Cap
-Shove a Nickel down the tube (This prevents the aluminum from being gouged during this next part).
Chop a 12 gauge magazine tube spring. (Bend/cut part of spring so that nothing is sharp or pointing out. Even better if you make it so it holds an AK cleaning kit partially.
-Push Spring into Buffer with a cleaning kit and partially compress it.
-Put storage cap on top of the cleaning kit, fully compress and screw on Storage Cap
You now have a spring loaded/rattle free solution for your AK cleaning kit.

5 Stars for the price.

I purchased mine for $250ish but even at $300 this is a good value, and for the money it is excellent.
*Honestly it puts the Strike Eagle to shame.
*The Illumination puts Bushnell Scopes to Shame
-Mount is excellent, and has torque values etched onto it. IMO it is nicer and lighter weight than a Warne.
-Glass beats out the Strike Eagle easy, and is on par with Bushnell's Korean Glass.
-Battery life is not advertised at all. It is decent enough, I left it on for 220-ish hours on setting #6 before it went dead. On par with Primary Arms.
-Brightness is decent enough, but may wash out slightly in super bright sunlight. However the reticle at that point is really easy to pick up in that kind of lighting.
-Turrets seem tactile/audible.
-Zoom is kind of stiff, but that isn't a huge issue. It comes with a throw lever.
-Reticle is sort of a head scratcher since the drops aren't advertised.
According to Sig and credit to HD2006
"Zero at 100 yards
- bottom of center dot: 200 yards
- bottom of horseshoe: 300 yards
- 1st hash line: 400 yards
- 2nd hash line: 525 yards
- 3rd hash line: 600 yards
- 4th hash line: 750 yards
- 5th hash line: 850 yards
- 6th hash line: 970 yards"
You are getting a ton of features for $250-300. Other scopes in this price range don't include a mount.

Top Cover Requires lots of fitting
Written on Nov 06, 2021
Review for
JL Billet Force Alignment AK Rail
The top cover requires a lot of fitting. I even tried 3 different gas tubes. my issue is that the lips of the gas tubes would have gouged into the aluminum of the top cover regardless of filing. I tried Polish, Romanian, and CSS US Made Gas Tubes with no luck.
Ended up selling this at a bit of a loss. The long lower handguard is really nice however.
It seems like these might fit PSA AKs better than other brands since PSA sells these on their AKs.

Really nice for the money.

Tdi Arms Flip Up Backup Sights
They seem really nice for the money, as far as width they are kinda chunky and same over built. But this doesn't seem like a bad thing.
I'm not too sure about the origin, but for $50 they seem like a very functional set of sights.

Not true m-lok spec
Written on Feb 10, 2021
Review for
Presma Accessory Scope Rings
This isn't true m-lok spec. It is actually smaller than the m-lok slot with forward and back play and has no recoil lugs. It does have a lug in the center but this does nothing but li.it where it can be mounted and does nothing to limit movement. The mount can shift in the m-lok slot possibly damaging the rail from a hard enough impact. It's a shame since the machining actually looks really good. I can't really recommend this.

Poor Staking
Written on Dec 17, 2020
Review for
Fostech AR-15 Stripped Carrier w/Gas Key
The finish and machining looks great!
But...
Gas Key has some pretty poor staking, it also uses YFS Screws. That could be a deal breaker to some. I've been spoiled by Toolcraft as far as budget Bolt Carriers go.

Made in China, Pot Metal
Written on Aug 31, 2019
These Sights are pretty much KAC Imitations, made of pot metal, and made of Chinesium alloy.
The company rebrands a lot of Chinese made knock offs, and says they are made in the USA.
Mounting screws are pretty bad and the heads are shallow.
