It's a good start

Bought this to fit to my Saiga 308-1 unconverted as a mount for a conventional optic, for the record my new NPZ PO4x24-1-01 with the Saiga base is perfect but I wanted an alternative. This mount is well made and solid, upper rail is screwed with red thread locker and pinned, clamping mechanism is steel and adjusts snug to the Saiga's plate just fine. Rustoleum flat black is a good match to cover up the eventual paint chips the mount will receive. Upper rail is 140mm / 5.5" long which can work but I've purchased a longer rail section to transplant so I can get more flexible eye relief adjustment. IF the clamp ever breaks I believe a Zenit should work, which is good my Belomo POSP clamp crumbled apart and it was awhile before I found a replacement.
Now the (sort of) cons. On my Saiga the rail is NOT centered, sits about 4mm left of centerline, not a big deal IMO, PO's and POSP's sit left even farther on my AK's. There are bosses cast into the mount for the screws that will allow a little sideways movement to drill new holes but it looks like not enough to make a real difference.
The clamp adjust tight to the base on my Saiga 308 and the Russian base I put on my MAK-90. It will NOT adjust to the base on my SDS LH-12 Lynx which uses a "Bulgarian type" base, wouldn't use it there anyway but there's the info. I don't what fits that one yet.
The mount does NOT allow a view of the rear iron sight either above or below, on my Saiga. That feature may relegate this mount to my MAK-90

Bad detent

Review for
NcSTAR Ak Muzzle Brake-Threaded
I wasn't as lucky. Mine has the detent notch cut a degree or two off from center, putting the upper vents and bridges at the front off to the left, visibly. Edges are rough, the flange surfaces at the front, where the gases from the front vents are supposed to push against, are flat not angled like the Tapco or original brakes. Has a little wobble once installed, unlike the factory (useless) piece that came with my Polish Hellpup pistol. At least the finish looks nice, almost a dark blued look. Waste of $8, I'd be more disappointed but I saved a bunch of $$ on the other stuff I ordered and Optics Planet shipped it quickly and free. Caveat Emptor.
