JMac Customs AK-100 14.5in Rifle Barrel
I'm putting together a rifle for competing in AK themed events. A lot of barrels I've bought recently, even by top name manufacturers, have been lacking in fit/finish. This JMAC barrel is phenomenal looking. All measurements are spot on. The nitride finish is pristine, with not a single tooling mark visible anywhere. Once I get the rifle finished, I'll update this review with barrel shooting performance info. JMAC products typically excel, and as a CHF-nitrided barrel, I expect it will shoot quite well.

Solid cost effective mount
Written on Feb 12, 2026
I was looking for a cantilever mount to hold a 4x18 scope on a 6mm ARC AR. I first looked at the pics and thought maybe this one was too thin on the offset section. That's not the case. This mount is solid. I like the rail attachment as well for the same reason. Finish on this is really nice and the color blends well with the camo pattern on my rifle. I knocked a star off the review due to the inner surface of the rings. Even though it's a one-piece cantilever mount, it did need lapping to take out irregularities in the contact surface. It looked like it was variations in paint thickness and not the actual aluminum, though. That's a pretty minor issue, though. If you're looking for a solid mount that won't break the bank, this one fits the bill. I'll be getting a second one for a 1x6 LPVO on a 308.

worked well

I have no problems with this upper. I'm using it to build "Armalite AR-15 Prototype #1", so it'll get modified a bit. It mates up great with a cerroforge lower. No wobble, no gapping, and the pins line up perfect. Finish is great. Anodizing is very thick.

great barrel

Fit and finish are great. I’ve always had greater than expected accuracy from BA short barrels. Length from extension face to muzzle is right at 12 3/4”. Perfect for doing a pin/weld CAR-15 or similar build with a 4.5” muzzle device.

Wilson Combat AR Threaded Barrel
I’ve considered Wilson barrels several times, but usually turn my own blanks instead. I haven’t shot this one yet, but everything looks to be as it should be. Finish is great, evenness of fluting is perfect, gas block is polished well and the crown looks perfect. I’ll update this once I put some bullets down range. I went with Wilson since they have good reviews and are one of the few that had the 6.5 twist available in 224 V.

Luth-AR 223/308 6 Position Buffer Tube
I’m actually using this one with a really poorly fitting mil spec stock. This is right on the commercial spec dimensions and fits nicely in the lower receiver. Just a hair of wet sanding on the inner of my cheap stock makes for a really nice, zero wobble butt stock assembly.

TRYBE Defense AR-15 Gas Block, .875 Steel
This is a solid low profile block. ID was exactly 0.875”. Gas port is a hair over 1/8” making it easy to align over just about any barrel’s port. My one complaint is that there were no set screws with it. Not hard to find, but it should have come with them!

UTG Pro AR15 Ops Ready S3 Mil-spec Stock
I put this on over an unbranded mil spec tube. There’s a slight wobble, but no worse than virtually every other stock sets I have...most of which cost a whole lot more. This was easy to install and comfy on the shoulder.

Trinity Force Alpha Stock
I originally got this as a cheap stock to finish out some low end builds. I ended up using it on my 308. It's holding up to 308 recoil well, seems to be pretty sturdy, and welds well to the shoulder. It wobbles on every mil spec tube I have, though. Not a huge wobble...but enough that it bugs me a bit. I'll eventually swap it out on that rifle. Other than that, I'd use again on low end projects.
