This is my third chronograph. The other two are the "shoot over light sensor" types. All three compare favorably in the ft/sec results. I like the FX because it can be set up quickly, performs interesting math calculations (via a smartphone), doesn't require a tripod, and poses no danger of being accidentally shot like my other two. Some have commented on short battery life. That doesn't concern me because my use of the chronograph will be to perform a few quick tests and then turn it off. So far it has been 100% reliable.
