Solid Upgrade for the Springfield Echelon: Aluminum Grip Module Review
Written on May 02, 2026
I highly recommend this aluminum grip module upgrade for the Springfield Echelon. The construction quality is excellent, featuring an integrated dual gas pedal design and added weight that contributes to improved recoil control and overall handling.
For those considering this upgrade, I also suggest opting for the optional magwell, which complements the module well. Installation may require a bit more effort due to the tight tolerances, but the result is a secure, high-quality fit that justifies the extra time.
The included wood grip panels are serviceable, though I chose to upgrade to VZ Grips for enhanced texture and improved aesthetics. While the price point may be high, the performance and build quality make it a worthwhile investment.
There are other comparable grip modules on the market, including offerings from Icarus Precision, Machine Mischief, and Shalotek, which may also be worth exploring depending on individual preferences.

I highly recommend this spring kit upgrade; this upgrade brought my trigger pull weight to an average 3.5#. My pre-travel/take up and reset was also reduced. It’s a great value for the mentioned benefits/gains.

APEX Trigger
Written on Jun 26, 2023
Review for
Apex Tactical Specialties Apex Walther PPQ Forward Set Trigger plus Apex Tuned Trigger Bar
APEX trigger has been installed on my Walther PDP and have not experienced any issues so far. There was no noticeable trigger weight increase or decrease, but definitely, a huge take-up reduction, breaks at 90 degree and very positive reset. This is a great alternative to the unavailable Dynamic Performance Trigger. Highly recommended!

This is a great red dot that comes with many desirable features/functionalities at a great price. Also, if I recall correctly, it has a lifetime warranty.
The only drawback is that it comes with one set of screws which are the right size for my needs. Reached out to the Riton and they suggest that I file down the screw to make it fit. Didn't offer replacement screws or mentioned the right screw size for my needs.
Other than the above drawback, I would recommend this fully featured red dot sight.

I highly recommend this Hogue Fixe Magazine Solution kit. There are other opitons, but I ultimately decided with this solution. Kit comes with high quality parts. Installation may not be for the faint of heart. Please watch the YouTube installation video before proceeding and take your time.

Awesome knife

My very first Spyderco knife. It's well made and super sharp VG10 steel. Definitely a great entry to the Spyderco world. I recommend it and definitely take a look at Spyderco current offerings as well.

If you are looking into building a AR-9 (PCC), I highly recommend Foxtrot Mike.
A couple of things that stood out was the side charging handle with the ambidextrous option, excellent finished, quality of product and accuracy), I just swap out the upper and mag and get the best of both worlds.
If you are interested in this option, definite recommend a heavier extended buffer tube of 6.4 oz and above and a more robust spring (i.e 308 spring.

CMC Trigger 2.5#
Written on Nov 13, 2018
Bought this CMC 2.5# to replace my stock M&P 15-22 trigger. My groupings tighten up by 1/2". I didn't find if any take up; you are literally at the wall and the reset is very positive and short. For the price, it's quite hard to beat and hard to find a drop in trigger at around 2.5#. Installation was quite easy and didn't required much time or effort. There are installation video on YouTube if needed. I definitely recommend this trigger and this should be on your short list of triggers for considerations.

Vortex 1" Rifle Rings
Written on Oct 13, 2018
Review for
Vortex Hunter Rifle Scope Rings
Initially, I was hesitant to purchase these rings because of the affordable low price. Because of the good reviews, it helped with my purchase decision. I bought the medium rings which was the ideal height for my Savage B22 FV-SR and mounted my Vortex Crossfire II scope. There has not been any issues so far and definitely recommend it for its affordability and functionality.

Vortex Crossfire II AO 6-18X44 - Recommended
Written on Oct 13, 2018
This replaced my Vortex Diamondback 4-12 on my Savage B22 FV-SR. Both optics are very nice in terms of clarity and performance. The advantage of the Crossfire II is the AO (Adjustment Objective) which allows me to focus on objects less than 100 yards and as close as 15 yards. The Diamondback will be going onto my AR instead. My decision for Vortex over other manufacturers is their reputation and lifetime warranty.
