Although I own many other 5.11 products, including a Rush backpack which I love, this is my first rifle bag purchase from them. I purchased this rifle bag as a solution to carry an AR & AK pistol which have buffer/extension tubes installed and it excels at that intended use. I particularly like the quick release securing ties that anchor each rifle inside the bag, they're adjustable and can be made to accommodate any type of rifle. There are two zip pockets located to either side of the external pouch and the the zippers can be secured from opening with a sewn on loop provided. The padding is excellent - not to thick to increase the bulkiness and weight, but thick enough to provide excellent protection internally and externally. Another feature I really like is that the backpack straps are fully removable. Is there room for improvement - always, the case handle height could be shorten by two inches, the inner padded divider could be an inch shorter to prevent binding when the case is being zipped closed and the compression straps need to be more offset from the handle. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these or it's big bro the 42". BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!

This revision got a lot of things right. The overall size and weight has been significantly reduced compared to the GEN 1 version. One change I appreciate the most is that the buffer tube sleeve is completely closed on one end. Also the velcro straps are better designed and fit securely on the unit. The rubber material is very dense, yet lightweight and should provide years of service. On final note, I installed this on a Arsenal SAM7K-03 and it balances out the system without adding bulk or weight.
