styling is top-notch but comfort takes a back seat

Written on Apr 08, 2026

I love this grip, but its not comfortable. The webbed pattern is abrasive and creates pressure points. What a shame

Not a great design

Written on Apr 02, 2026

The QD socket position is too low, it creates an imbalance. The buttpad isn't rubber at all, just incredibly hard plastic: great if you're planning to butt-strike people, but terrible for comfort. It's pretty heavy and the hinge isn't the best design. A3 has some great products, but this isn't one of them.

Aesthetically looks nice, but it's a gimmick

Written on Jan 11, 2024

For 20 bucks, it's an easy buy n try. Nice design and a seemingly simple fix for short finger syndrome. However, although it does extend the accessibility of the mag release, it's at a cost. The problem is leverage. If you press down at the furthest end (closest to your finger), you get a very gritty, resistive action. It works, but only just barely, and I added a lot of gun grease. Also, if you aren't using gloves, it isn't very comfortable and it shaves dead skin off your finger like a cheese grader. The build up of skin particles happens surprisingly fast. Ultimately it's an incomplete thought. I'd recommend getting a mag release that doesn't have the holes and is shaped so that it takes the leverage issue into account. This one is for the bin. 1 star if it was any more expensive...

A stylish and well-thought accessory

Good weight, looks better than most cantilevers in my opinion, making adjustments to it is easy, love the quick-detach. Very solid despite the quick-detach levers. Starting to really appreciate Leapers UTG as a company.

A great optic at the sale price

Written on Dec 25, 2023

I compared this optic directly with the GLx 1-6x and the the SLx 1-8x from Primary Arms. I found that the optical clarity from 1-6x was very good, and that all other features were at least acceptable by comparison. It has less fisheye-ing at low power and nearly as good resolution when zoomed out. For a ~$300 optic, I believe the value is strong. It was surprisingly lightweight for the features offered.

I found the 1x not to be true (but not far off, between 1.1 and 1.25x), and the resolution of 7-8x sort of fell apart in complex backgrounds (though still useable). The reticle is extremely small at low power but the lines from the sides and bottom are nice to have to get on target and are far from distracting. The knobs are tactile and protected by caps. Illumination isn't outstanding but it is better than the Primary Arms offerings. If $300-$400 is your budget, don't sleep on this optic.

Another one-of-a-kind product from F.A.B.

Written on Dec 12, 2023

For a first try, this item is very well designed, though not perfect. The form and function are top-notch. Good quality parts, aesthetically very pleasing, simple to install, and reasonably priced. I see F.A.B. Defense as a company that opens possibilities to their users, which is really what I want and I'm willing to make compromises to see this kind of innovation. That being said:

Here is what this device does well:
Provides a stable platform
Excellent shapes and form fitting
Looks pretty badass
Minimal interference with other components (works with my after-market trigger guard and short mags)
Feels incredibly solid
Non uni-body construction allows use of just the grip if desired

And not so well:
The shape can encumber swift and fluid mag changes (I commonly scrubbed my thumb while putting in mags)
No access to grip chamber
The bipod leg storage is sequential (the right leg has to go back first, at least on my copy of this product)
The grip stippling could be more comfortable

For a gen I of this product- it's fantastic. I have several F.A.B. products and it's clear that innovation is a key tenet of their business model.

Sum up- Do you do a lot of gun fighting and need to change mags quickly? Don't get it. Do you like a stable platform to take calm shots but don't want a bipod hanging off the end of your gun? Get it.

Friggin sweet edit to Galil Ace g2

Written on Jun 18, 2023

When I first attached it, I didn't wrench it down hard, which seems to be required or else it will be captive to the rail but still loose. A little more tightening and now it's stiff as a board. It's great how much space this piece deletes from a typical buffer tube configuration, since my magnifier has a relatively short eye relief distance. I also very much appreciate the accessibility to the cavity, eliminating the wasted space while supplying a nifty hold for a post gun-fight cigarette. Seriously, this piece is cool

Awesome one of a kind stock

Pros
Great looks, extremely functional, holds magazines well, QD on both sides, seemingly good quality

Cons
Expensive, not crazy about the way the release lever or attachment of cheek piece are designed

Overall I'm very happy with it

REMINGTON OWNERS BEWARE

Written on May 11, 2023

It's not clear in the listing but this item requires drilling into your 870 receiver for install. It says on the box that gunsmithing is recommended. I'm not sure why anyone would willingly destroy their Remington to mount this thing, and I'm surprised it's marketed to be compatible with 870s. The quality seems good but I gave it 1 star to keep other people with 870s from buying it
