I have purchased a number of these and I really like them

Written on Jun 04, 2025

I have purchased a number of these 8 position buffer tubes and I really like them, they are well made and I like the ability to fine tune my length of pull on my rifles. If anyone else uses the rifles with these on them it’s the same story, they like the ability to select the best length of pull for themselves. My grand kids seem to be the ones that really notice the difference in the finer increments as opposed to the rifles my son has that are six position. Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference in life. Be safe, life is to short as it is without hurrying the process.

Improved gas ring from the original style

Written on Mar 30, 2025

In my opinion this is an improvement from the original style gas rings, it takes a little to get used to installing this item on your bolt, takes a bit of patience to get it on right without bending them, but you never have to worry about the rings being clocked at 120 degrees from each other like the original style. They aren’t as thin so they are lesser likely to crack and fall apart. The material these are made of is less abrasive than the chrome rings and are supposed to seal better. I have installed these on all of my AR style rifles I own (4-AR-15 rifles, 2-AR-15 pistols and 1-SR-25 rifle) plus I have installed them on two other rifles for friends, one was a new build, the other was to replace worn and broken stock gas rings and the guy said that the rifle had never shot so well as with the new one piece ring. (He may have just been real appreciative that his rifle would work at all when we were done installing the new gas ring)

Works great, saves time and my fingers

Works great, saves time and my fingers. I’ve been meaning to get one of these for a while now to speed up reloading mags, finally did it and am not regretting the purchase.

I have installed these springs on all but two of my builds

Written on Mar 05, 2025

I have installed these springs on all but two of the builds I have put together, one of the builds has a captured spring from another manufacturer and the other build was for a guy who wanted an inexpensive rifle. The guy bought his own upper, lower and BCG, a bunch of us guys who shoot together donated left over parts to finish the rifle, one of the guys donated a blemish barrel that shoots really well (I installed a mil-spec. trigger that I had polished and had in one of my rifles before I installed a two stage), looks like a budget mil-spec. AR and has that distinctive scrape/twang of an AR when charging, (the guy was shooting smaller than quarter size holes @ 50 yards with BUIS, thing is a real sleeper). Now, on to the Strike Industries recoil spring. I have shot several different rifles with everything from mil spec. to fancy, expensive hardware, BCG, springs, trigger groups, barrels, etc. Unless you have a suppressed rifle I can’t tell the difference in sound from one another as far as “twang”. These SI springs do have a distinct sound when charging the rifle, but nothing bad as far as I can tell. If you are having difficulty installing this spring, use a small flat piece of plastic or a cleaning pick to hold down the buffer retainer as you install the spring. The main reason I chose these springs over mil-spec. round wire is longevity and spring tension consistency. With these flat wire springs combined with an adjustable gas block and light weight buffer, I have tuned

I’ve only had this bag a week, time will tell if it holds up

Written on Feb 13, 2025

I’ve only had this bag a week to evaluate how durable it is. This bag is set up just like I wanted, fairly heavy material, but not so thick to make the bag heavy, lots of pockets inside and out. Good, fairly strong self healing zippers with decent length paracord pull tabs for the outside pockets and top flap closure. The grab handle straps wrap behind the outside pockets and are single stitched on either edge all the way down and under the bottom panel of the bag, the shoulder strap attachment points are treated the same and I see that they are also X stitched as well at the top where the strapping back track overlaps, nice large D ring attachment points for the metal hooks on the shoulder strap with sliding shoulder pad, I use the handy bag top Velcro strap to keep the shoulder strap secure when not in use. The elastic web strapping is single stitched to the backing they are attached to and the zippers are all double stitched to the bag. All the seam edges are overlapped covered to hide the edges to help prevent fraying. This bag seems to be fairly well made, the only improvement I would have wanted was double stitching and bar tacking everywhere on the straps, bag seams and webbing. (Would have rated it five stars with the better stitching). Only time will tell if the bag will holds up to regular everyday use and the stitching will stay put (I may just hand bar tack as many points that I can reach myself just for insurance and peace of mind).
