Tastes like leftovers

Written on Jun 12, 2024

I’m adding this to my survival pantry only to have variety. It tastes like microwaved leftovers and barely gets a recommendation from me.

Less savory than the Biscuits and Gravy

Written on Jun 12, 2024

For some reason I expected this to be as savory as the Biscuits and Gravy. It might be the most bland meal, but it isn’t terrible. It’s easy to add flavor with your favorite spice or grilled peppers and onions.

Tasty and not too spicy

Written on Jun 12, 2024

The kids probably wouldn’t like it as much as the plain Mac & cheese, but this is a welcome variation. Like the plain version, it’s a good foundation for adding other ingredients. I expected it to be spicier but it’s better to start with a mild baseline because flavor can always be added but not removed.

Surprisingly good

Somehow after sitting for 10 minutes in hot water there are biscuit bites in a nice, thick gravy. It’s a satisfying hot meal and not soggy as I expected. I had this for breakfast and would eat it again for dinner.

Who doesn't love mac & cheese?

It doesn't beat every kid's favorite, but it will probably be the only Mountain House meal they will eat. It does beat some of the other Mountain House meals, and it's a decent foundation for adding other ingredients.

Tastes like Mountain House Scrambled Eggs & Bacon

Written on May 31, 2024

I don't understand why this is called Chicken Fried Rice because that's not what it tastes like. If you like the flavor of Mountain House Scrambled Eggs and Bacon, then you might like this. I drowned it in a chili-based sauce to improve the flavor. I won't buy this again, but at least I know how to cope if I get stuck with it for some reason.

Why do so many people rave about this?

The chicken-based meals taste better in my opinion. I will stock my survival pantry with this only because I like variety and this tastes better than the Beef Stew.

Maybe my second favorite Mountain House meal

Written on May 23, 2024

After the Chicken Fajita Bowl, this is my next favorite Mountain House meal. Great on its own or wrapped in a tortilla, the Adobo chili flavor shines. If you can get past the bread-like texture of the chicken, then this is delicious!

Maybe my favorite Mountain House meal

Written on May 23, 2024

Once you get used to the bread-like texture of the chicken, this is a great-tasting meal. For what it’s worth, it seems like the larger pieces of chicken have more of a meaty texture than the smaller pieces, so that’s a nice bonus compared to the Chicken Noodle Casserole or Chicken Fettuccine. The flavor is better than a lot of other frozen bowls from the supermarket. It's delicious on its own or wrapped in a tortilla.

Never again

"I love watery scrambled eggs" said nobody ever. This is sadness in a pouch. I might eat it if I were literally starving.
