weaver 30m low rings

Written on Jan 23, 2018

These are awesome. I use them on almost everything unless its on a high dollar rig. Even then they work and perform their job as well as some of the expensive stuff. I would like to see an extra low version. When put on my 44mm objective lens mounted on a weaver rail it still sits about 3/4 of an inch above the barrel. Not a big deal but it would nice to have it lower.

Butler Creek Flip-Open Scope Covers

Written on Jan 23, 2018

I will never be without these. Why buy a scope and let your lenses be exposed to the elements and heavy use. they are cheep. They are durable. And optics planet makes it easy to figure out which ones are the right size for your scope

Primary Arms 4-14 x 44 FFP

Written on Jan 23, 2018

I purchased this for my coyote gun.

CONS:
It took along time to get here, 3 weeks. It was free shipping so that was great though. Many other reviews say soft turret clicks. Very soft. If you turn the turrets slow you don't here or feel a click at all, very hard to tell. The zoom ring also had sloppy play in it.

PROS:
$25 gift card came with itThe quality is in the toughness, good glass for the price, and FFP which is great.
I held it side by side with my vortex viper PST 1st gen 4-16 x 50 FFP as the sun went down in the mountains. The PST is brighter and has truer color. This bought me 5 min more, at most, of shooting time. It is not worth another $500 to $800 to get another PST or other for my bang around coyote gun. Not enough difference to justify such a big price gap.

I actually sent it back (which is free) because the turrets and zoom ring were so bad. I exchanged it for the same scope but with the Orion reticle. I decided id rather do hold overs than use those turrets. Some may say the MOA turret and a mil reticle of the Orion are a bad combination. However, the MOA turret will allow for easy sight in and the capped turrets of the Orion will never need to be moved after its sighted in.
I just hope the focus ring is a little better on the next one.

Overall, great scope for the money if the next one has decent zoom ring
