Great defensive round

Review for
Federal Premium 9 mm Luger 147 Grain HST Jacketed Hollow Point Nickel Plated Brass Pistol Ammunition
The Federal 9mm 147 grain HST is the best ammo made for self defense in my opinion. I run this ammo exclusively in my full size pistol and my AR pistol. It runs flawlessly in both weapons, is very accurate and can be used in a suppressed weapon. There is a huge amount of data on the internet showing head to head comparisons with other self defense ammo, and the HST comes out on top no matter the caliber. I have never had to use this ammo in a self defense scenario, but I feel supremely confident I am carrying the best ammo, and will work as intended. Buy with confidence.

Best defense ammo

Review for
Federal Premium 9 mm Luger 147 Grain HST Jacketed Hollow Point Nickel Plated Brass Pistol Ammunition
The Federal HST ammo is the best defensive ammo around. There are many online reviews that demonstrate this, with data(FBI ammo test protocol) to back it up. Luckily, I have never had to use the ammo in a defensive situation, but the ammo runs flawlessly in my guns. I use this ammo in all my 9mm, 45 acp pistols and suppressed 9mm AR pistol. You can’t go wrong with this ammo.

Great after market stock
Written on Mar 03, 2026
I was looking to update my hunting Remington 308, and found the MDT Field stock. The stock is well built, has a aluminum chassis, free floats the barrel, and provides a detachable mag(AICS) vice a hinged floor plate. But the best part is the ergonomics, with adjustable length of pull and cheek riser. Unlike many aftermarket chassis stocks, MDT keeps a slim hunting profile with this stock, and is very comfortable. With that said, it is one of the “best bang for the buck” stocks you can get at this price point. Overall, an excellent value. If you are looking for a hunting profile chassis stock, this one should be on your short list.

Not what I expected.

I bought this illuminator to use with a Night Optics Gen 2 HP monocular. I was using a Streamlight 850 nm light, which worked very well, but gave off a faint red glow. I wanted an IR illuminator that didn't give any glow so I looked around for a 950 nm IR light. I consider the Night Optics monocular a "best bang for the buck" for Gen 2 optics, so I thought I would try one of their illuminators. I was underwhelmed with the light when I received it. The construction looked good, but the tail cap threads were rough and it was hard to reinstall the cap with batteries. There was no reflector to speak of, and the output of the light was square in shape and was not very bright. But the 950 nm was invisible to the naked eye when on. There was a disclaimer saying it works most effectively with Gen 3 NVGs, so this maybe the issue I am having. Needless to say I went back to the Streamlight. For close to $200, I expected more. I will hold onto it and see if it works better with a Gen 3, or see if I can hammer mechanic the light to work better.
