Oprod length can be confusing

Written on Jan 23, 2021

This is a great kit. The lightened BCG and spring setups are specifically for the lower pressure 300 blackout. My barrel was pre dimpled for a gas block and, like others found myself with a fully collapsed BCG and 0 distance gap with the oprod. I should shave .010 off the end of the rod or gap the block by .025 but that seems like a work around when i know my gas block is exactly over the port. The gap is allegedly to allow for when things het hot and metal swells a bit.

Shipping new version of BCM4 with large BCM forge mark

Written on Jan 02, 2021

Received 2 uppers late Dec 2020, both arrived new with large BCM forge marks (giant star in a square) and no normal forge marks. This appears to be a new version which differs from the picture. Both of mine also arrived missing the port door but had the forward assist installed. Frankly you buy BCM because of the quality but clearly missing obvious attention to detail isn't reassuring. I know branding is important in a competitive world but i specifically ordered these both for their quality and because they weren't obviously branded, 1 out of 2 isn't horrible but i can't stand branding all over a product. Strike does that and it makes their stuff look cheap.

Includes dowel pin which is 1 less thing to buy!

Written on Dec 11, 2020

High quality stainless tube but includes both the dowel/barrel pin and the gas tube roll pin. That means one less thing to buy when needed. I'm supposed to say more (OpticsPlanet wants 200 characters) but there is nothing more to say.

Best Milspec single stage option

Written on Nov 18, 2020

This is by far the best milspec single stage trigger available. Why you spend the money: .155 hardened trigger pins included, unlike standard .154 pins which are often softer steel this makes the break more accurate and crisper. These are $18 from geiselle by themselves. They also include 2 sets of springs a heavy hammer and light hammer spring allowing for custom pull weights down to a pull of 3.5lbs or 6lbs. Other triggers cost $20 less but don't include the higher quality pins or springs and are nickle boron only not, teflon/boron which is preferred for long term trigger operation.

Decent quality. Could use some refinements

Written on Oct 08, 2020

Depending on your build this can be a nice LPK. But it needs some refinement for everyday use. The trigger guard has sharp edges which need to be gently machined down. The bottom edge of the safety selector is sharp and will wear into your fingers. The off side short safety selector isn't that short and may dig into your trigger finger. These are small details but for the price i would prefer a little more refinement and no ugly logo on the trigger guard.

Should be the standard for a bolt

Written on Aug 24, 2020

I run a short gas system AR which gets exceedingly dirty after a few hundred rounds. The design of this bolt helps it lock in better, even when dirty ensuring reliability. Its top quality and should be the standard all bolts are based upon for a DI system. Few things have evolved for the AR platform over the years but this is a fantastic evolution. Highly recommended for all 223/556/300 blk platforms.

To the guy who broke his bolt release...

Written on Jul 24, 2020

Honestly thats a noob move on your part. You're not supposed to let the hammer smack your bolt catch, it could damage your lower. You're lucky it just broke your bolt catch. If you need to do trigher testing be sure you have an upper attached and bolt installed so it doesn't smack the front of your FCG pocket and bolt catch. Don't blame giessele for your lack of experience.
