I have this and the plastic version from a Wilson Combat cleaning kit. Both work, but the rigidity of the steel version just makes it feel solid and secure, as you would expect. Have the steel version as my primary tool and in a pinch will use the plastic one, but with a bit more attention to make sure nothing slips and is launched into the fluorescent lights.

Have not been to range, but Snap Caps do not have an issue. Used to augment factory 5-round, flush fit magazines instead of buying new. The rear profile of the extension is short on a SA XDS MOD-2 OS 3.3 45ACP. Planning to use at range only, as round count now matches other magazines for practice. Texturing on the Pearce grip is moderate/average, but I will make more aggressive with Talon Pro material I have on hand. The extension build is solid. I’m happy overall.
