The sizing for caliber is right on. Nice, snug fit, just enough to almost bow your cleaning rod, but pushes a patch smoothly. Seems to be of quality brass and should last a lifetime.
The Savage Mark II is a gem in the world of Rimfire rifles. Truly competition worthy accuracy. The numerous configurations, affordability Etc.. make this, in my opinion, unbeatable dollar-for-dollar. But the magazines kind of suck. My most recent purchase has a bull barrel, threaded from the factory, a Boyd's stock, shoots like a dream but comes with a chintzy 5 round magazine that will have you pulling your hair out. Not to mention, who on God's green earth wants a 5 round detachable magazine anyway? 5 rimfire rounds, give me a break. I was shooting 30 round 10/22 magazines at 10 years old. I digress. The 10 round option that I purchased here on opticsplanet, improves the shooting experience a lot. For a Savage magazine, good to go. And of course ordering it here helps out, considering I know I'll get a good price and it'll be on my doorstep quickly.
I know the debate about bronze brushes being safe for your rifle or not is a heated one. Having the effective means to clean your barrel with non-metallic brushes makes it kind of tough to be on the no bronze side of the debate. This brush however makes a great case. This really does scrub hard and lasts a long time. Much better than the nylon brushes I've used before.
I bought this hoping that the side pic rails would provide for convenient accessory placement. I mounted a sling loop to one side and really regretted it. I should know better. The plastic broke around the threaded screw that holds it to the foregrip body. I dropped a loaded rifle off my shoulder while stepping over a down log, holding the sling and a piece of plastic attached to it. The functionality of the button for the light is great. It is a nice design, just low quality material.
The sight picture blurs away from center very badly. The clarity of the glass is great in the center of the reticle only. Even on the lowest magnification, the edges are terrible. Its hard to make out other things in the field of view. I am not sure if this unit is defective or if this is typical. I know some blurring will happen at the edges on all scopes, but this sight picture is distorted in a large portion, unlike most anything I've seen.
