Best Scope Mount I Know
Written on Apr 07, 2017
Review for
Aero Precision Ultralight 1in Scope Mount
This mount weighs 3oz. And, it's tough as nails. And, it's reasonably priced. This is simply the best mount for most scoped applications on an AR.
All the fasteners are high quality torx bolts, and the unit comes with a very nice torx driver that ensures that you use an appropriate torque when installing.

Front clamp is barely usable.

The adjustable height front clamp just won't stay assembled. Any upward pressure on the clamp, even a pound or two, detaches the clamp from the base and the whole setup falls apart. You then have to loosen the knurled knob, maneuver it all back into place, and then re-tighten. This happens repeatedly if you have to put any force into handling the gun clamped into the unit.
Also, the entire product is flimsy. It is one of the cheapest feeling products I've seen. At a price of over $60, that's criminal. This would be excusable at $15-$20. As it is, it's an utter rip-off.
Lastly, the dark blue color is a very bad choice. Most tools, gun parts and fasteners are black. You can't see them if you put them into the drawers and storage nooks.
Is is usable? Barely. Is is convenient or pleasant to use? Not even close.
